MTN Nigeria has launched its annual “30 Days of Y’ello Care” campaign, reaffirming its dedication to supporting education and empowering communities across the nation. The month-long initiative, which kicked off with a vibrant ceremony in Lagos, aims to enhance educational opportunities and resources for students in underserved areas.
This year’s Y’ello Care campaign focuses on the theme “Empowering Education for All,” reflecting MTN’s ongoing commitment to improving access to quality education. Over the next 30 days, MTN employees will volunteer their time and skills to implement various educational projects and community development activities nationwide.
“We believe that education is a powerful tool for transformation,” said Karl Toriola, CEO of MTN Nigeria, during the launch event. “Through the Y’ello Care campaign, we are dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the lives of young Nigerians by providing them with the resources and support they need to succeed.”
The campaign will feature a range of initiatives, including the refurbishment of school facilities, provision of learning materials, and organization of workshops on digital literacy and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. MTN employees will also mentor students, helping to inspire and guide the next generation of leaders.
“Education is the cornerstone of societal progress,” Toriola emphasized. “Our goal is to bridge the educational gap in Nigeria, particularly in underserved communities. By investing in education, we are investing in the future of our country.”
One of the highlights of this year’s Y’ello Care campaign is the launch of the “MTN Digital Classroom” project, which aims to equip schools with modern digital tools and resources. This initiative seeks to enhance the learning experience for students and prepare them for a technology-driven world.
“The MTN Digital Classroom project is designed to transform traditional learning environments into interactive, tech-enabled spaces,” explained Uto Ukpanah, MTN Nigeria’s Chief Corporate Services Officer. “We are committed to ensuring that students have access to the latest educational technologies, which are essential for their academic and professional success.”
In addition to its focus on education, the Y’ello Care campaign will also address other critical areas such as health, environmental sustainability, and community development. MTN employees will participate in activities like tree planting, health screenings, and the construction of community infrastructure.
“Y’ello Care is about giving back to the communities that support us,” Ukpanah said. “Our employees are passionate about making a difference, and this campaign provides a platform for them to contribute positively to society.”
Since its inception, the Y’ello Care campaign has made a significant impact on communities across Nigeria, with thousands of MTN employees volunteering their time and expertise each year. The campaign has been praised for its innovative approach to corporate social responsibility and its ability to mobilize resources for meaningful change.
“As a leading telecommunications company, we recognize our responsibility to contribute to the socio-economic development of Nigeria,” Toriola stated. “Y’ello Care is an integral part of our corporate ethos, and we are proud of the positive outcomes it has achieved over the years.”
Community leaders and beneficiaries of past Y’ello Care initiatives have expressed gratitude for MTN’s continued support and commitment to education. Many have highlighted the transformative impact of the campaign on local schools and communities.
“The support from MTN through the Y’ello Care campaign has been invaluable,” said Amina Ahmed, a school principal in Kano. “The improvements to our school facilities and the provision of learning materials have made a huge difference in the lives of our students. We are deeply grateful for their generosity and dedication.”
As MTN Nigeria embarks on another 30 days of Y’ello Care, the company remains steadfast in its mission to empower communities and foster sustainable development through education. The campaign’s activities over the next month are expected to touch countless lives and reinforce MTN’s role as a catalyst for positive change in Nigeria.
