Dogecoin( DOGE), a digital coin originally founded as a joke has surged more than 800 per cent on Thursday to about $0.082 per coin, giving the meme-based cryptocurrency a market value of about $7 billion.
DOGE is now the 10th most valuable cryptocurrency by market value just behind the Bitcoin
The price of DOGE (-29.49%) rose to a new record of $0.078 Thursday, before settling down to $0.073, up 822% over the last 24 hours.
Dogecoin had also added about $7.17 billion to its market capitalization total market cap stood at $8.2 billion according to data from Coinmarket.
In the past, Elon Musk had previously tweeted about stocks and it sent them rising, in April 2019, he tweeted about Dogecoin that it was his favourite cryptocurrency.
