Lagos state revokes 2018 land use charge

The Lagos state government has reviewed the Land Use Charge ( LUC) Law 

This was announced by the commissioner for Finance, Dr Rabiu Olowo on Wednesday during a press briefing held at the Bagauda Kaltho Press Centre, Alausa Ikeja.

In his words “The penalties for 2017 to 2019 law use charge have been waived which is totalled at N5 billion revenue relinquished by the state government”.

He further disclosed that all payment of law use charge will be done electronically via the various online channels, the ministry has also ensured that there is an efficient customer service unit where complaints and issues resolution will be swift and timely.

The present administration reviewed the Land Use Charge (LUC) by reversing the rate to pre-2018 while upholding the 2018 method of valuation.

The new reforms exempted

  • Properties owned and occupied by pensioners from paying the Land Use Charge 
  • Reduction in the percentage increase in penalties for defaults in paying Law Use Charge in the following categories:
  • 45-75 days from 25% to 10%, 75-105 days from 50% to 20% and 105-135 days from 100% to 50%,

The commissioner also disclosed a 48 per cent reduction in the annual charge rate.
