Morocco and the World Bank have reiterated their commitment to strengthen their collaboration and have called for advancing their partnership through a new joint roadmap.
This was stated during a meeting in Washington between Morocco’s ambassador to the United States, Youssef Amrani, and the president of the World Bank, Ajay Banga. The new roadmap aims to enhance and enhance the exceptional cooperation between Morocco and the World Bank.
The World Bank president commended King Mohammed VI’s leadership in economic reforms and social development, emphasizing that the Kingdom serves as a model of resilience and crisis management due to effective government actions. He outlined the World Bank’s new priorities for developing countries, focusing on five key sectors for job creation: electrification, infrastructure, health, agribusiness, and tourism.
The partnership with Morocco will be further reinforced to boost job creation in the private sector, improve human capital, and address climate change. Additionally, the World Bank will concentrate on cross-cutting issues such as increasing women’s participation in the workforce and digital transformation. The World Bank president praised Morocco for successfully hosting the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in Marrakech in October 2023.
The Moroccan ambassador highlighted the evolving nature of the Morocco-World Bank partnership, emphasizing the shared vision and trust that solidify their commitment to strengthening their collaboration. He stressed the importance of the joint roadmap in enhancing cooperation in strategic areas such as education, agriculture, health, water, and energy. The ambassador emphasized the crucial role of World Bank initiatives in knowledge transfer, risk management, inclusive development, and climate issues. He underscored that the human aspect is central to all considerations and decisions made for the nation.
