The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has made it mandatory for all passengers arriving in Nigeria to conduct a COVID-19 PCR test done within 96 hours before arriving in Nigeria.

The agency announced this via the Nigeria International Travel Portal (NITP), this applies to all passengers entering or leaving Nigeria during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The PCR test must be conducted within 96 hours before departure and preferably within 72 hours pre-boarding. For certain countries, COVID-19 PCR tests will only be accepted from specified laboratories

Tests done more than 96 hours before departure are not valid and persons will not be allowed to board.

The agency noted that its aware of the challenges most travellers are facing in registering via the national payment portal and its working with the relevants stakeholders to ensure that such issues are resolved swiftly.

The NCDC says the NCAA has notified airlines that passengers to Nigeria who can’t pay for the test online can still board flights as long as they have a valid COVID-19 PCR negative test result.

Passengers unable to pay for repeat tests online will be allowed to pay on arrival in Nigeria.
