Ya-Na calls for prioritization of education in Africa’s development

The Dagbon overlord, Ya-Na Abukari II, emphasized the significance of education and knowledge sharing in societal transformation.

He highlighted that financial aid alone from developed countries would not suffice for the essential human capital and infrastructure development necessary to reshape Africa. Ya-Na Abukari II, currently on a 10-day working visit in Turkey, urged leaders and policymakers in Africa to prioritize knowledge transfer programs to expedite development on the continent.

Speaking at a meeting with the Vice-Chancellor of Bursa Technical University (BTU) in Turkey, Ya-Na Abukari II stressed the importance of transferring knowledge in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics from advanced nations to Africa for rapid transformation. He commended Prof. Dr. Naci Caglar, the Vice-Chancellor of BTU, for his leadership and support in establishing a partnership between BTU and Tamale Technical University (TaTu).

The collaboration aims to provide research opportunities, exchange programs, scholarships, and knowledge transfer across various fields to enhance human capital development in Ghana. Prof. Naci Caglar praised Ya-Na Abukari II for his vision and expressed optimism for a robust partnership between BTU and Tamale Technical University to benefit students and academic staff.

The meeting, attended by dignitaries from both sides, concluded with plans for a delegation from BTU to visit Ghana later this year to finalize the partnership agreement between the universities.
