The report, a result of collaboration between the Ministry of Digital Transition and Administration Reform and UNESCO, assesses various aspects of Morocco’s AI readiness. This includes milestones in adhering to UNESCO recommendations, existing cyber laws, and digital initiatives.

The report highlights Morocco’s progress in developing its digital ecosystem, focusing on connectivity, data access, cybersecurity, and personal data protection across key areas such as the economy, education, legislation, culture, and infrastructure. It also provides 17 specific recommendations for human-centred AI development.

The report ranks Morocco 35th in Open Data Watch 2022 and 50th in the Global Cybersecurity Index 2022.
