Paul Kagame’s vote share grew by 0.3% according to the National Electoral Commission (NEC). The NEC revealed that Kagame maintained his lead in the presidential election with 99.18% of the votes.
In comparison, Frank Habineza garnered 0.50%, and Philippe Mpayimana received 0.32%. On July 18, 2024, the Electoral Commission disclosed the interim outcomes of the Presidential and Deputy elections across all sectors.
Oda Gasinzigwa, the President of the National Electoral Commission, stated that the overall turnout for the Presidential elections stood at 98.20% of eligible voters. During the announcement of the presidential election results on July 15, 2024, Kagame held 99.15% of the votes, representing a 0.03% increase from the provisional count.
Habineza’s share dropped from 0.53% to 0.3%, while Mpayimana retained 0.32%. The National Electoral Commission also reported a 98.20% participation rate in the general and special Deputy elections, compared to the eligible voters for candidates and independent candidates.
