President Tinubu to Visit Kano for Condolence Over Aminu Dantata’s Death

The Kano State Government has announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will visit the state to commiserate with the government, people of Kano, and the family of the late elder statesman, Alhaji Aminu Dantata. The late Dantata was widely respected as a business mogul, philanthropist, and industrialist whose impact extended across Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the spokesperson to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Mr. Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, in Kano. According to the statement, President Tinubu’s visit is a gesture of national unity and respect for the people of Kano, as well as a recognition of the life and legacy of the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, who has led tributes in the state since the death of the business icon, called on residents of Kano to receive the president warmly. He urged the people to maintain the state’s well-known tradition of hospitality, discipline, and respect for visiting leaders during the president’s visit.

The governor, while commending President Tinubu’s decision to visit Kano, said it demonstrated the president’s concern for national unity and the importance of honouring great Nigerians who contributed significantly to the country’s development.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata, who passed away recently, was a revered figure in Nigeria’s business community and was known for his philanthropy, industrial ventures, and commitment to education and community development. As a prominent member of the influential Dantata family in Kano, he made his mark in various sectors including commerce, construction, banking, and real estate.

Throughout his life, Dantata was not only a business leader but also a mentor to younger entrepreneurs across Northern Nigeria and beyond. His generosity saw him contributing to the building of schools, hospitals, and religious institutions. His investments provided employment to thousands and helped to strengthen the economic base of Northern Nigeria.

President Tinubu’s scheduled visit is seen by political observers as a significant move to strengthen ties with Kano, a crucial state in Nigeria’s political landscape. Kano, being the most populous state in Northern Nigeria, holds strong influence in national politics and economic affairs.

The Kano State Government also assured that adequate security and logistics arrangements have been made to ensure that the president’s visit goes smoothly. Security agencies in the state have reportedly been mobilised to provide tight security coverage across strategic locations within Kano metropolis.

Governor Yusuf appealed to residents to cooperate with the security agencies and ensure that the visit is conducted in a peaceful and dignified manner. He added that the visit should be seen as a moment of unity for the state and the nation at large, as Nigerians collectively mourn the passing of a great son of the North and Nigeria.

Alhaji Aminu Dantata’s death has continued to attract condolences from within and outside Nigeria. Leaders, businessmen, and traditional rulers have sent tributes, acknowledging his contributions to Nigeria’s socio-economic growth and his role in community development.

Dantata was part of the prominent Dantata family, whose business influence dates back to the colonial era. The family is credited with building one of the strongest indigenous business empires in West Africa, with ventures spanning trade, industry, and finance.

President Tinubu’s condolence visit to Kano is expected to further highlight the significance of the late Dantata’s contributions and provide a platform for national reflection on the role of indigenous entrepreneurs in Nigeria’s history and development.

The date of the president’s visit is yet to be officially confirmed by the State House, but preparations in Kano are already underway to receive the Nigerian leader.
