The African Development Bank and technology giant Intel have teamed up to provide AI training to 3 million Africans and 30,000 government officials. AI has significantly impacted lifestyles and work dynamics, influencing sectors like healthcare, finance, and education.

Its widespread adoption highlights its practical applications, leading to enhanced efficiency and convenience in daily routines. Bienvenu Agbokponto Soglo, Intel’s Director of Government Affairs Africa and IGA CTO Liaison expressed Intel’s commitment to collaborating with African governments to make AI accessible to all, fostering inclusivity in the digital economy.

This partnership aims to equip Africans with Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) skills to drive growth and productivity, positioning them as contributors in the 4IR landscape. Through training, socio-economic challenges will be addressed, boosting productivity in key sectors like agriculture, health, and education, and disrupting traditional growth patterns.

Additionally, the collaboration will aid African nations in developing unified policies in AI, 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, data, and cloud technologies. Ousmane Fall, the African Development Bank’s Acting Director of Industrial and Trade Development, emphasized the importance of digital skills for Africa’s youth, highlighting the need for widespread cooperation to meet the evolving digital landscape.

The Bank and Intel’s joint efforts aim to shape Africa’s digital future and empower its youth. The AI market is projected to witness continued growth until 2030, driven by increased adoption across industries, advancements in algorithms and infrastructure, and rising investments in research and development, making AI an integral part of business operations and consumer applications.
