The Bet9ja Foundation says it has completed 206 humanitarian projects across 33 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in less than two years of its operation in Nigeria, impacting over 180 communities and reaching more than 65,000 Nigerians.

This was revealed by the Executive Director of the Foundation, Ada Cuomo, during a media tour of its newly opened Lagos office. Cuomo said the organisation is committed to making a meaningful difference in people’s lives through projects that align with five key focus areas: education, healthcare, community infrastructure, youth empowerment, and solar access.

“In just about two years, we’ve visited 33 states and impacted about 180 communities,” Cuomo said. “Over 180 of our projects fall under five pillars of education, healthcare, community infrastructure, and youth empowerment.”

Cuomo highlighted that the Foundation had prioritised critical needs such as water access, by installing solar-powered boreholes in many communities across Northern Nigeria. “We’ve partnered with different organisations to deliver solar power projects, distribute solar panels, and dig water boreholes, especially in the North,” she said.

In addition to water and energy access, the Foundation also extended support to micro, small, and medium-sized businesses (MSMEs) by providing credit, while hundreds of students benefited from educational grants. According to Cuomo, 100 undergraduate scholarships were awarded to students in public universities.

The Foundation’s regional impact data shows that the South-West has so far received the highest number of interventions, with 110 completed projects, followed by 28 projects in the South-South and 26 in the South-East.

Cuomo also revealed that the Foundation has been actively involved in youth development and employment training, hosting summits and running skill-building programmes to boost employability and entrepreneurship.

“We’ve hosted graduate employability and entrepreneurship summits, and run youth executive programmes to help bright entrepreneurs scale their businesses,” she explained. “We don’t stop at providing support; we follow up and monitor beneficiaries for six to seven months to ensure they are on track and doing what they set out to do.”

The Bet9ja Foundation, which serves as the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of the popular sports betting company, has positioned itself as a player in grassroots development across the country, using its resources to uplift underserved communities.
