Ecobank Nigeria has launched an upgraded version of its mobile banking app, designed to offer customers a faster, smarter, and simpler way to manage their finances. The bank said the new app reflects its commitment to digital innovation and financial inclusion across the country.

In a statement released on Monday, Ecobank Nigeria explained that the enhanced app comes with a more modern design, improved performance, and advanced features aimed at making digital banking easier for customers. Some of the new functionalities include facial recognition login, seamless bill payments, airtime top-ups, and QR code payments, all designed to make financial transactions quick and convenient for users.

The Managing Director of Ecobank Nigeria, Mr. Bolaji Lawal, said the bank upgraded the app to meet the changing needs of customers who prefer mobile solutions for their daily banking activities. “These new features make smart banking effortless for our customers using their smartphones. The new mobile app leverages digital technology to offer real convenience, security, and flexibility, enabling individuals to manage their finances with ease,” Lawal said.

He noted that the app forms part of Ecobank’s broader plan to improve customer experience and encourage digital adoption among Nigerians. According to him, as more people rely on their smartphones for financial services, the bank is focused on simplifying access while maintaining top-tier security.

Also speaking about the upgrade, Mr. Kola Adeleke, the Executive Director for Commercial and Consumer Banking at Ecobank Nigeria, said the app was designed to provide an end-to-end digital experience. “The upgraded app comes with account opening, cardless onboarding, end-to-end card management for card request, activation, PIN change, block and unblock account, end-to-end profile management, dormant account reactivation, and live monitoring of foreign exchange rates,” he explained.

He added that the app is more than just a banking tool — it represents how Ecobank aims to build a closer relationship with its customers through technology. “This app is not just a digital tool; it represents how we want to engage with our customers. Our goal is to make banking faster, smarter, and simpler for our customers,” Adeleke said.

The new Ecobank Mobile App is available for download on both the App Store and Google Play Store, offering customers 24-hour access to banking services without the need to visit a physical branch.

Financial analysts say Ecobank’s latest move is a strong response to the growing competition in Nigeria’s digital banking space. With an increasing number of banks and fintech companies investing in user-friendly mobile apps, financial institutions are racing to enhance convenience, security, and speed for their users.

The update also aligns with Nigeria’s ongoing digital transformation drive in the financial services sector. As the Central Bank of Nigeria continues to promote cashless transactions and fintech innovation, traditional banks like Ecobank are rethinking their digital strategies to meet customer expectations and retain market share.

Customers have already begun to share positive feedback about the redesigned app, praising its faster loading time, improved navigation, and easy access to essential services such as bill payments and fund transfers.

Ecobank, which operates in more than 30 African countries, has been at the forefront of digital banking innovation across the continent. The bank’s platforms, including the Ecobank Mobile App and Ecobank Online, have consistently been updated to integrate new features that enhance financial access for individuals and businesses.

With the new upgrade, Ecobank Nigeria joins a growing list of banks prioritising digital transformation to make financial services more inclusive, efficient, and customer-focused.
