The Chairman of Sparklight Construction Company, Mr. Toyin Adeyinka, don call on government and stakeholders make dem give more power to engineering regulatory bodies so that dem go fit discipline engineers wey no dey follow proper standard. He talk this one during the official opening of the new Lagos Commercial Court wey dey Lagos Island.

According to Adeyinka, many of the issues wey dey cause building collapse for Nigeria dey happen because some professionals no dey follow the rules wey dey guide their work. He say the engineering profession get plenty laws and guidelines already, but without strong enforcement and punishment for people wey bend the rules, wahala go continue dey happen.

He say, “There are various bodies that regulate the engineering world. These bodies should be further empowered to discipline engineers who fail to adhere to professional standards.” He also mention say the existing engineering laws suppose dey enforced well to maintain the integrity of any building project.

Adeyinka stress say engineering no be place for cutting corners or eye service. For him, every single detail for construction project dey important, and na only serious attention to these details go make building strong and safe. “You don’t take anything for granted in construction. Every structure requires attention to detail and all the professional skills necessary to bring it to life,” he talk.

“This is a very joyful moment for us, starting a project from conception and seeing it through to successful completion. The structure, from the foundation to the finishing, demanded a great deal of engineering expertise,” Adeyinka talk.

The new Lagos Commercial Court na five-storey building wey come with one pent floor on top. The building get enough courtroom space and different support facilities. Dem also build extra structures like driver’s lodge, gatehouse, staff canteen, water treatment plant, and panel room to support the main court operations.
