Julius Berger Nigeria Grows Revenue to N343.4bn in H1 2025, Despite Drop in Profit Before Tax

Construction giant Julius Berger Nigeria Plc has reported a revenue of N343.4 billion for the first half of 2025, showing a 41 per cent rise compared to the N243.8 billion it recorded in the same period of 2024.

The company disclosed this in its unaudited financial statement sent to the Nigerian Exchange Limited.

According to the results, Julius Berger’s profit after tax stood at N7.1 billion as of June 30, 2025. This figure is 39 per cent higher than the N5.1 billion recorded in the first half of 2024.

However, the company’s profit before tax dropped by 48 per cent to N13.1 billion, compared to the N25.1 billion it declared in the same period last year.

For the second quarter of 2025 alone, revenue reached N162.9 billion. That’s a 23 per cent increase from N132.9 billion posted in Q2 2024.

The growth in revenue was driven by higher project activities across the country. But cost of sales also went up significantly. It rose by 38 per cent to N283.4 billion in the first half of 2025, up from N204.9 billion in the same period last year.

Gross profit for the half year increased to N60 billion, representing a 55 per cent jump from the N38.8 billion recorded in H1 2024.

Administrative expenses also grew from N32.3 billion to N43.8 billion within the same period, showing the impact of inflation and higher operating costs. On the other hand, impairment losses on trade and tax receivables dropped to N2.9 billion, compared to N5.7 billion last year.

Despite the drop in profit before tax, Julius Berger’s total comprehensive income rose to N23.3 billion in the half year, a 44 per cent increase from N16.2 billion posted in 2024.

Earnings per share went up to N4.34 from N3.54, reflecting better returns to shareholders.

On the balance sheet, the company’s total assets stood at N1.05 trillion as of June 2025, slightly up from N1.02 trillion at the end of December 2024.

Total equity also improved, rising to N363.9 billion from N345.8 billion, mainly due to revaluation surplus and retained earnings.

Julius Berger remains one of Nigeria’s leading construction companies, known for handling major roads, bridges, buildings, and industrial projects across the country.
