Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has boldly projected that Katsina will emerge as Nigeria’s innovation hub by the year 2030, attributing this to several technology-driven policies and initiatives being implemented under his administration.

Speaking at the Arewa Tech Fest 2.0 held in Katsina, Governor Radda highlighted how his government is currently laying the groundwork for a tech-driven transformation that will shift the state from an analog economy to a digitally empowered ecosystem. He expressed optimism that Katsina is on track to become a leader in technological innovation and entrepreneurship, not just in the northern region, but across Nigeria.

“We are working hard to build a system — changing how we work, how we think, and our attitude,” Radda stated during his keynote address at the event. “My hope is that future governments in this state will continue from where we stopped and build a brighter future for the youth. They will also build a brighter future for the entire people of this state and for Nigeria at large.”

He noted that his government has commenced the implementation of various tech strategies to reposition the state and provide a fertile ground for innovation, skills development, and sustainable economic growth. According to him, these reforms are not only focused on technology but also aim at changing the mindset of the youth to embrace digital literacy, creativity, and problem-solving.

The Arewa Tech Fest 2.0 served as a platform to showcase the tech capacity of the state and attract investors and entrepreneurs who can play a role in driving development and unlocking opportunities for young talents. Radda used the event to call on the private sector to support Katsina’s tech vision and invest in its growing innovation ecosystem.

While the state faces the same challenges affecting many parts of Nigeria—such as poor infrastructure, limited access to capital, and high unemployment—Radda emphasized that technology offers a real solution to many of these problems. He said the multiplier effects of technology and entrepreneurship can lift communities, create jobs, and boost the economy.

Governor Radda’s administration has already initiated programs to train young people in digital skills, promote tech hubs, and integrate technology into education, agriculture, and governance. His vision is to make the state a go-to destination for tech startups, digital investors, and innovators.

He encouraged stakeholders present at the event, especially industry leaders and investors, to partner with the government and take advantage of the emerging digital economy in Katsina.

The Arewa Tech Fest, now in its second edition, is fast becoming a flagship event for technology dialogue and innovation in northern Nigeria, bringing together entrepreneurs, startups, students, investors, developers, and government representatives to engage on how tech can drive regional development and youth empowerment.

As Governor Radda concluded, “I believe by 2030, Katsina will have a bright future filled with innovation, technology and visionary leadership.
