Kresta Laurel Marks 35th Anniversary with Leadership, Technical Training for Engineering Students

by Radarr Africa

Kresta Laurel Limited, a Nigerian electro-mechanical engineering company, has marked its 35th anniversary with a special programme aimed at training young engineering students on leadership and technical development. The company organised a Students’ Interactive Programme at its head office in Maryland, Lagos, bringing together students from the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Lagos State University (LASU), and the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).

The event was part of the company’s plan to contribute to youth empowerment and development of the engineering profession in Nigeria. Chairman of Kresta Laurel and former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Gbenga Daniel, said the company has remained focused on building engineering capacity in the country over the years. He said, “For 35 years, Kresta Laurel has led the way in Nigeria’s engineering sector by investing in knowledge development and human capacity. Our focus has always been on building a sustainable future through engineering leadership.”

Also speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Kresta Laurel, Engineer Dideolu Falobi, explained that the programme was not only to celebrate the company’s success but to invest in the future of engineering in Nigeria. “This initiative is not just about looking back; it’s about looking ahead. We want to help young Nigerians connect their academic training with what happens in the real world of engineering,” he said.

The event featured various training and discussion sessions. These included a talk on leadership and career development by Kehinde Sogunle, a session on fire safety awareness by Sunkanmi Adegorite, workplace safety training by Habib Lukman, and a presentation on quality management systems by Peter Adewumi. Each session focused on practical knowledge that the students could apply in their future careers.

Students were given the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the facilitators on real issues facing the engineering industry in Nigeria. The organisers said the aim was to bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-life experience and to prepare students for leadership roles in the industry.

Academic staff from the three participating universities also attended the event. From the University of Lagos were Professor S. O. Adeosun, Dr Oyekeye, Dr Lawrence Osoba, and Dr Obidiagwu. LASUSTECH was represented by Engineer Osho.

Kresta Laurel is known for its work in areas like vertical transportation systems, industrial automation, and engineering maintenance. The company said it remains committed to promoting quality, safety, and excellence in the engineering field.

The company also used the occasion to encourage students to take engineering seriously and to aim for leadership positions in the future. According to the company, engineers play a key role in national development, and Nigeria needs a new generation of skilled and responsible engineers.

The management of Kresta Laurel said they would continue to support educational institutions and help young Nigerians achieve their potential through similar programmes in the future. They noted that the future of the country depends on how well the next generation is prepared.

The event ended with group photographs, networking among students and facilitators, and a strong message to keep pushing for excellence in engineering practice.
