Morocco, Pakistan Aim to Boost Trade Through Direct Flights, Collaboration

In a recent meeting at the Federation House in Islamabad, Pakistan, Atif Ikram Sheikh, the President of the Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), stressed the importance of establishing direct flights and robust air connections between Morocco and Pakistan to enhance trade relations.

The Nation, a Pakistani newspaper, reported that Sheikh highlighted the extensive investment opportunities in Pakistan across various sectors such as tourism, construction, hydro, textiles, pink salt, solar power projects, mines and minerals, gemstones, and agriculture. He mentioned that Pakistan’s exports to Morocco have increased from $24.85 million in 2018 to $32.06 million in 2022 and underlined the significance of further elevating this figure.

Sheikh advocated for cooperation between the FPCCI and Moroccan Chambers of Commerce to boost bilateral trade, facilitate visits, organize trade events, and foster business partnerships, believing these efforts would strengthen economic ties. During the meeting, Mirza Ishtiaq Baig, the Honorary Consul General of Morocco and Chairman of the Pakistan-Morocco Business Council, highlighted key areas for mutual trade between the two nations.

Baig disclosed plans to lead a substantial delegation to Morocco soon and referenced the successful delegation visit to Morocco last year, where they held a Biryani Festival to showcase Pakistani rice, highly sought after in the Moroccan market. Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, a Member of the National Assembly and former Senior Vice President of the FPCCI, assured the Federation President of his commitment to advocating for the business community’s interests in the National Assembly and securing institutional support.
