New Trustees for Chude & Ego Foundation

According to Victor Ogunyinka, the Chude & Ego Foundation has announced the appointments to its Board of Trustees, including the appointment of Onyinye Anyaegbu as Managing Director/CEO.

As part of its 2021 Board resolution, the Chude & Ego Foundation has formed its Board of Trustees, which is led by Founder Nonso Okpala and includes other board members Mobolaji Adewumi and Okunwa Okpala.

The Foundation has set the goal of empowering individuals to rise above economic and social barriers, channel their productivity, and thrive for themselves and their communities as a non-profit organization dedicated to transforming low-income communities by providing access to world-class education and quality healthcare.
Nonso Okpala is the Group Managing Director/CEO of VFD Group Plc, a private investment firm having interests in banking, technology, real estate, and hospitality.

Currently, the company has a stake in approximately 40 businesses. Years of work with respected organizations like KPMG, BGL, United Bank for Africa Plc, and Heirs Holdings have given him unparalleled expertise in the Nigerian financial services market. Nonso established the Foundation and will serve as the chairman of the board of trustees.

The Foundation’s Board of Trustees has welcomed Mobolaji Adewumi, a well-known financial expert and Executive Director of Abbey Mortgage Bank Plc. Mobolaji has vast experience and skills in the financial services business, having worked with regional and global players such as VFD Group Plc and First Bank of Nigeria Ltd, ASO Savings, United Bank for Africa, and KPMG Nigeria.

Okunwa Okpala, the Founder/CEO of Cellar Central Limited, a fast-growing sales and e-commerce firm, has also been named to the Foundation’s Board of Trustees.

Okunwa is a supply chain expert and entrepreneur with a background in marketing, business development, and human resources who specializes in spotting new business ideas and bringing them to fruition.

“I am honoured to be a member of the Board of Trustees, and I am committed to acting as a champion and advisor for the foundation, its initiatives, and the communities we serve,” Okunwa Okpala stated.

Mrs Onyinye Anyaegbu’s nomination as Chief Executive Officer, effective December 1, 2021, is also confirmed by the Foundation’s board. Anyaegbu’s new job as a long-term member of the Chude & Ego Foundation will allow her to continue to provide essential leadership, governance supervision, and contributions.

Onyinye has an excellent career as a Global HR specialist, having worked in the FMCG and pharmaceutical industries in a number of HR roles. She has a solid track record of developing talent, driving performance and growth, and supporting diversity and inclusion at Fortune 500 businesses such as Diageo Plc (UK) and GlaxoSmithKline, and her intercultural competency has been important in translating business vision into HR initiatives.

A smart leader who is passionate about equity and inclusion, a great supporter of Nigeria, and a staunch believer in the foundation’s massive influence. Onyinye brings to the foundation her ten-plus years of experience in human resources, operations excellence, and a purposeful mindset to help the foundation achieve its goals.

“While education is supposed to be a fundamental right for all, so many children in Nigeria and Africa will never receive one; while this is tragic for families, it is especially abysmal for the country and continent, given the amount of talent lost and potential economic loss.

These individuals, if given the proper opportunities, have the potential to serve as the catalyst for a new African Renaissance. The Chude and Ego Foundation’s mission is to provide these opportunities “Nonso Okpala stated. “I’m excited to see the great strides this foundation will make under the guidance and oversight of our new CEO, Onyinye Anyaegbu.”

A few weeks prior, the Foundation hosted a glitzy gala dinner at the Boardroom Apartments in Lekki, Lagos, to raise funds for the Foundation and its flagship project, Osnon Academy, an international standard tuition-free co-boarding secondary school in Uga, Anambra. Phyno, Timi Dakolo, Waje, and DJ Spinall were among the Nigerian superstars who performed at the festive fundraiser, which raised N200 million.

The funds will be used to build Osnon Academy, the first of several school construction projects planned. It’s worth noting that the school’s site has already been acquired.
