Nigeria’s construction industry, valued at over $108 billion, is witnessing renewed growth driven by rising government spending on housing and infrastructure. This expansion will take centre stage at the Big 5 Construct Nigeria 2025 exhibition, scheduled to hold in Lagos from September 23 to 25 at the Landmark Centre.

Organisers of the event said more than 145 exhibitors from over 20 countries will participate, showcasing innovations across building materials, digital construction, solar energy, windows and façades, air conditioning and refrigeration systems, and other critical sectors.

The exhibition will also feature Big 5 Talks, with over 25 free CPD-certified sessions covering themes such as sustainability, project management, architecture, and emerging construction technologies.

According to a statement by the organisers, Nigeria’s construction sector is expected to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 4.4 percent between 2024 and 2028. The expansion is largely supported by government investment, with $16.8 billion allocated to capital expenditure in 2024. These funds are channelled into road development, affordable housing, and long-term infrastructure commitments under Nigeria’s $1.9 trillion net-zero by 2060 plan.

The government’s National Integrated Infrastructure Master Plan identifies construction and infrastructure as a central pillar of national development. Big 5 Construct Nigeria, therefore, aims to provide a platform where international and local players can collaborate, share knowledge, and explore opportunities in one of Africa’s largest construction markets.

Senior Vice President of Construction at dmg events, Josine Heijmans, noted that Nigeria’s construction industry has become a major driver of economic activity in West Africa.

“Nigeria’s construction market is projected to reach over $108 billion in 2025, reflecting the scale of opportunity for both local and international stakeholders,” Heijmans said. “Big 5 Construct Nigeria builds on this growth by aligning closely with the country’s infrastructure master plan and housing goals. By bringing suppliers, regional players, and decision-makers together under one roof, the event creates a space where business opportunities meet national priorities.”

She added that the exhibition will ensure that the knowledge, technology, and solutions needed to close housing and infrastructure gaps in Nigeria are readily accessible, allowing the construction sector to continue driving sustainable growth.

The event will host more than 20 participating countries, including Germany, India, Italy, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States. Dedicated national pavilions from Egypt, Türkiye, China, and Austria will also showcase their expertise and innovations.

First-time exhibitors include Sany Equipment, a global player in heavy machinery; Daikin, known for its HVAC solutions; Legrand Electric, a leader in electrical and mechanical systems; and Stanley Black & Decker, a renowned provider of tools and protective equipment.

Industry watchers say the scale of international participation demonstrates Nigeria’s increasing appeal as a destination for construction investment, supported by its growing urbanisation and infrastructure needs.

Beyond showcasing technology and equipment, the exhibition is also expected to generate new business deals and partnerships for Nigerian firms, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises looking to access global supply chains.

For professionals, the CPD-certified workshops and talks provide opportunities for career growth, knowledge acquisition, and networking with some of the sector’s top decision-makers. The focus on sustainability and digital solutions also underscores Nigeria’s efforts to align its infrastructure growth with global environmental and technological standards.

With urbanisation rising and housing demand expanding, stakeholders believe that exhibitions like Big 5 Construct Nigeria will play a key role in helping the country meet its development goals while fostering foreign investment and innovation.
