Rainoil Gas Limited, one of Nigeria’s fast-growing players in the downstream energy sector, has expanded its footprint with the commissioning of a new Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) plant in Ore, Ondo State. The company says the project is in line with the Federal Government’s plan to deepen gas penetration and promote clean, safe energy for cooking in Nigerian homes.
The plant was officially commissioned along the Ore-Okitipupa Road, where the Managing Director of Rainoil Gas, Mr Emmanuel Omuojine, explained that the choice of Ore as a location was strategic. He said the company aims to bring clean energy closer to the people in rural and semi-urban communities.
“We chose Ore because we want to bring clean energy closer to the people. Our vision is to ensure that gas becomes the fuel of choice for households across Nigeria, and accessibility plays a key role in making that possible,” Omuojine stated.
He also said that the new plant would save residents from the stress and extra cost of travelling long distances to buy gas, especially from major urban areas. The plant is expected to serve not only Ore but also neighbouring towns such as Okitipupa and other nearby communities.
The MD noted that since launching in 2020, Rainoil Gas has grown significantly. The company now has a gas storage capacity of 8,000 metric tonnes located in Lagos and a fleet of 42 trucks to ensure fast and efficient gas distribution across Nigeria.
Omuojine emphasized that building gas plants like the one in Ore is part of Rainoil’s broader support for the Federal Government’s National Gas Expansion Programme (NGEP). He said the company is committed to driving adoption of gas for domestic use, which is safer and more environmentally friendly than traditional cooking methods like firewood and charcoal.
Chairman of Odigbo Local Government Area, Hon. Taiwo Adegoroye, also spoke at the event. He commended Rainoil for bringing development to the area and praised the company’s decision to establish the plant in Ore.
“This is a thoughtful and impactful move by Rainoil Gas. It will not only improve the standard of living in Ore and surrounding towns like Okitipupa, but it will also stimulate local economic activity and promote safer, cleaner cooking habits,” Adegoroye said.
He encouraged residents to take full advantage of the new facility and shift away from environmentally harmful practices like cutting down trees for firewood. According to him, gas is not only cleaner and safer but also more efficient and affordable in the long term.
Adegoroye said that the new gas plant would create job opportunities, promote environmental protection, and enhance public health outcomes by reducing indoor air pollution from traditional fuels.
Industry observers believe Rainoil Gas’s move to establish plants in more communities supports the national drive to make gas the primary domestic fuel in Nigeria. The company’s efforts have been recognised as contributing to economic growth, environmental sustainability, and improved quality of life for many Nigerians.
With this latest commissioning, Rainoil Gas continues to position itself as a key player in Nigeria’s LPG market, offering clean energy solutions that are reliable, accessible, and community-focused.
