Renaissance Africa Energy Clinches Top Honours at 2025 NOGOF Awards

by Radarr Africa

Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited has emerged as the Nigerian Content International Upstream Operator of the Year at the 2025 Nigeria Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF), held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The award was conferred by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) in recognition of the company’s exceptional performance and early impact in Nigeria’s upstream oil and gas sector.

In a resounding debut, Renaissance beat major oil industry players such as ExxonMobil Esso, SNEPCo, and Seplat Energy to win the top award. The company’s Managing Director, Mr. Tony Attah, was also honoured with the title of Local Content Icon of the Year, underlining his individual leadership in promoting indigenous participation and excellence within the sector.

This double recognition comes just two months after Renaissance acquired The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (SPDC) in a landmark transaction that has quickly transformed it into a major player in Nigeria’s energy landscape.

According to the company’s spokesperson, Michael Adande, the awards highlight not only Renaissance’s operational efficiency but also its commitment to local content and sustainability. “In its first full month of operation, Renaissance surpassed its production target by an astounding 40 per cent, a performance the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC) described as ‘remarkable’ and ‘sterling’,” Adande noted.

Speaking on the awards, Tony Attah credited the company’s staff for their resilience and belief in Renaissance’s mission. “This award belongs to every single person in our organisation,” he said. “It’s a reward for hard work and an invitation to raise the bar. We are shaping a new era in Nigeria’s energy sector — one rooted in sustainability, indigenous expertise, and shared value creation.”

He further emphasized that Renaissance’s mission goes beyond production numbers. “We are committed to fostering energy security and industrialisation in Nigeria and Africa at large through responsible operations and strategic partnerships,” Attah stated.

Renaissance is now the operator of Nigeria’s largest oil and gas joint venture (JV) — the NNPC/Renaissance/TotalEnergies/AENR JV. The JV assets cover a wide range of onshore, swamp, and shallow water locations across the Niger Delta.

The company’s early success has been attributed to not only its workforce but also its robust stakeholder engagement strategy, and the support of shareholders and joint venture partners.

Renaissance continues to position itself as a forward-thinking energy leader that combines local capability with international best practices, creating a new benchmark for operational excellence in the African upstream sector.
