Renaissance Africa Energy Company Limited has been named the Nigerian Content International Upstream Operator of the Year at the 2025 Nigeria Oil and Gas Opportunity Fair (NOGOF), which was held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State. The event was organised by the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB).
The relatively new company beat well-established oil and gas companies like ExxonMobil Esso, Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company (SNEPCo), and Seplat Energy to win the prestigious award. The ceremony took place on Wednesday night and attracted major players from the Nigerian oil and gas industry.
In addition to the company’s award, Renaissance’s Managing Director, Mr. Tony Attah, also received personal recognition as he was named the Local Content Icon of the Year. This individual award highlights his leadership and efforts to promote Nigerian content in the energy sector.
This award comes just two months after Renaissance completed a major acquisition of The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited. The company’s spokesman, Mr. Michael Adande, stated in a press release on Thursday that the award shows the company’s strong impact in the industry in a short period of time.
According to the statement, Renaissance exceeded its production target by 40 percent in its first full month of operation. This achievement has been described as “remarkable” and “sterling” by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC), especially considering the challenges often faced in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector.
Speaking about the award, Mr. Attah said the recognition belongs to the entire workforce at Renaissance. He praised their hard work, dedication, and belief in the company’s mission. He noted that Renaissance represents a new beginning in Nigeria’s energy sector and that the team is determined to maintain its momentum.
Mr. Attah added that the award is not just an honour but also a challenge to continue leading efforts in achieving energy security and supporting industrial growth in Nigeria in a sustainable way. He said Renaissance is relying on local expertise and strategic partnerships to make responsible decisions and provide value across the entire energy chain.
He also gave credit to the company’s joint venture partners, shareholders, and stakeholders, saying their support has been strong and consistent. These partnerships, according to him, have played a big role in Renaissance’s early achievements.
Renaissance is quickly gaining ground as a key player in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. The company is focused on providing sustainable energy that will support both Nigeria and Africa’s energy security and development goals.
Currently, Renaissance operates Nigeria’s biggest oil and gas joint venture. This partnership includes NNPC, Renaissance, TotalEnergies, and AENR. The joint venture operates in different terrains including onshore, swamp, and shallow water locations across the Niger Delta region. The share breakdown of the joint venture is: NNPC with 55 percent, Renaissance with 30 percent, TotalEnergies with 10 percent, and AENR with 5 percent.
This award shows how Renaissance is making bold steps in the industry, and many are watching to see how the company will continue to grow and shape Nigeria’s energy future.
