Tango Brook Technologies has unveiled the Tango Fuel Card, a new digital fuel management system designed to give individuals and corporate organisations better transparency, control, and rewards in handling their fuel spending. The product was officially announced by the company on Tuesday, with executives highlighting its potential to transform the way Nigerians manage fuel purchases across the country.
According to the company, the Tango Fuel Card is backed by a combination of physical payment cards accepted at fuel stations nationwide and a suite of digital tools, analytics, reports, and devices that enable users to monitor fuel use in real-time. The technology is aimed at tackling long-standing challenges of fuel theft, unauthorised transactions, and inefficient management, especially for businesses that operate fleets of vehicles.
The firm explained that the system is capable of reducing fuel theft by up to 95 per cent, as it allows customers to set strict usage limits, prevent leaks before they occur, and block unauthorised spending. Users are also able to see transaction details instantly, including the exact volume of fuel purchased per transaction, a feature that enhances financial accountability for households and businesses.
Speaking at the launch, the Managing Director of Tango Brook Technologies, Obi Wemambu, described the innovation as a game-changer in fuel management. “The Tango Fuel Card transforms fuel management by giving businesses and individuals real-time visibility into consumption, mileage, and spending at both vehicle and driver levels. With PIN protection, customisable limits, and nationwide acceptance, it offers unmatched flexibility, security, and convenience. Enhanced with built-in rewards, Tango delivers savings while ensuring total control,” Wemambu said.
The Chief Operating Officer, Dubem Okafor, also stressed the value of the card for both personal and corporate use. “With the launch of the Tango Fuel Card, we’re introducing a smarter, more secure, and rewarding way for people and businesses to manage their fuelling needs. This isn’t just about payments; it’s about giving customers transparency, convenience, and value every time they power their journeys. At Tango Brook, we’re committed to building solutions that make everyday essentials simpler and more rewarding,” Okafor stated.
Beyond the security and tracking features, the card offers financial incentives to encourage adoption. According to the company, customers can save up to 15 per cent on fuel costs by optimising their spending through the system, while loyalty schemes provide up to an eight per cent bonus on fuel budgets. These savings, the firm believes, will be particularly beneficial to small businesses and transport operators who face rising fuel costs.
Tango Brook Technologies positioned the card as more than just a payment solution, describing it as a data-driven decision-making tool for businesses. The corporate spending controls embedded in the system allow employers to allocate budgets to drivers, monitor how funds are spent, and ensure greater accountability. This is expected to help businesses cut down on wastage and streamline operations.
The process of accessing the service has been made straightforward. Customers are required to open an account with Tango Brook Technologies, obtain an instant wallet, and then request and activate their Tango Fuel Card. Once activated, users can begin to fuel, track usage, and enjoy cost savings across participating fuel stations nationwide.
The launch of the Tango Fuel Card comes at a time when Nigerian households and businesses are grappling with high fuel prices and rising operating costs following the removal of petrol subsidy. For many transport operators and logistics companies, the lack of transparency in fuel management has been a major financial drain. Industry analysts say the introduction of technology-driven solutions like the Tango Fuel Card could help reduce fraud, improve accountability, and promote more efficient fuel consumption across sectors.
As the competition in Nigeria’s fintech and fuel management space continues to expand, Tango Brook Technologies hopes that its offering will stand out through its mix of convenience, real-time control, and reward-driven savings. The company said it remains committed to building innovative solutions that meet the needs of Nigerian consumers and businesses in an increasingly digital economy.
