331 stranded Nigerians have returned home from the United Arabs Emirates, UAE, according to the Nigerian in Diaspora Commission, NIDCOM.

The commission disclosed this on Friday been 7th day in August via its official Twitter account that the returnees flew in through an Emirates flight which landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja airport.

The returnees are to undergo compulsory self-isolation in line with the guidelines from the Presidential Task Force and the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control(NCDC).

According to the agency, the evacuees had tested negative to COVID-19, which brings the total number of evacuees from the UAE to 2,042.

This comes two days after 306 Nigerians were repatriated from the UAE

The Federal government revealed it had spent N169 million in June on the evacuation of Nigerians returning from overseas.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, thousands of Nigerians have been evacuated back home.
