Amid rising concerns about the profitability of state-owned enterprises (SOEs) across Africa, Ghana has spotlighted its top-performing government-backed businesses – and the numbers are eye-catching.

According to fresh data, the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC), Ghana Reinsurance Company, Volta River Authority (VRA), Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA), and Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) are currently leading the pack in revenue generation and profitability.

The report highlights these SOEs as the backbone of public sector business operations in the country, with strong performance contributing significantly to Ghana’s economic resilience.
