Henkel Nigeria Expands Homecare Portfolio with Launch of WAW Liquid Detergent

Henkel Nigeria has unveiled two new cleaning products—WAW Complete 5 in 1 Liquid Detergent and WAW Active 5 All-Purpose Cleaner—further deepening its presence in the Nigerian homecare market. The launch marks a strategic expansion of the company’s popular WAW brand, which already includes household names such as Nittol and got2b.

The official unveiling took place in Lagos, where Henkel Nigeria’s Managing Director, Rajat Kapur, described the products as tailored innovations designed to meet the evolving needs of Nigerian consumers. He said the launch reinforces Henkel’s position as a customer-centric brand focused on providing solutions that combine convenience, quality, and effectiveness.

“At Henkel Nigeria, we are committed to innovation. Delivering effective, seamless and convenient laundry solutions tailored to evolving consumer habits is central to us as a business,” Kapur stated. “Our recently launched WAW All-Purpose Cleaner and Liquid Detergent are integral to our broader goal of championing innovations that complement laundry and home care cleaning.”

Kapur noted that the two new additions were created based on feedback from local consumers who are increasingly seeking versatile cleaning products that offer value and ease of use. He said the company remains committed to meeting these expectations through continuous investment in research, development, and market analysis.

Speaking on the unique features of the products, Ifeyinwa Nnaji, Brand Manager at Henkel Nigeria, said both products were designed with Nigerian households in mind, offering functionality, affordability, and superior cleaning power. She described the WAW Complete 5 in 1 Liquid Detergent as suitable for all types of fabrics, including coloured clothes, adding that it offers deep cleaning, fabric protection, stain removal, a long-lasting fragrance, and ease of use in both hand and machine washing.

On the WAW Active 5 All-Purpose Cleaner, Nnaji noted that it was developed to tackle stubborn stains in kitchens, bathrooms, floors, and other surfaces common in Nigerian homes. She emphasised that both products represent Henkel’s broader vision of making everyday cleaning easier for families.

“We are excited to introduce the WAW Complete 5 in 1 Liquid Detergent and the WAW Active 5 All-Purpose Cleaner to the Nigerian market,” she said. “These innovative products embody our dedication to providing effective, convenient, and high-quality cleaning solutions tailored to the needs of Nigerian households.”

The launch comes at a time when the Nigerian fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) market is growing more competitive, with consumers becoming increasingly selective about the brands they choose due to rising inflation and economic challenges. Industry watchers believe Henkel’s new products could gain strong market traction given their focus on multi-functionality and value.

The company also used the opportunity to reaffirm its commitment to sustainability and local manufacturing. According to Kapur, Henkel continues to prioritise environmentally responsible production processes and is actively working to reduce its environmental footprint while supporting job creation in Nigeria.

Henkel further revealed that more consumer-focused products are currently in development, as part of its long-term strategy to meet the specific needs of Nigerian families and remain a leading player in the cleaning and hygiene space.

Since entering the Nigerian market, Henkel has invested in strengthening its brands, improving product accessibility, and deepening its ties with local communities. With this latest launch, the company aims to solidify its reputation for quality and innovation.
