Tide Power, an international power systems manufacturer, recently held a stakeholders seminar in Lagos to deepen engagement with industry players and present its latest clean energy solutions tailored for Nigeria’s energy market. The event brought together energy professionals, stakeholders, and partners to discuss the country’s power challenges and explore opportunities for sustainable energy development.
The seminar featured presentations by Tide Power’s top executives, who shared the company’s journey, achievements, and future direction, particularly in line with global clean energy standards. According to the company, the goal is to provide Nigerian businesses and households with reliable, efficient, and eco-friendly power solutions.
Speaking at the event, the General Manager of Tide Power Nigeria, Mr. Fred Shu, noted that the company has maintained strong business ties with Nigeria for over a decade and officially set up operations in the country seven years ago. He said the demand for alternative power solutions such as gas and biogas is growing rapidly in the country, and Tide Power is positioning itself to meet that demand.
“For more than 10 years, we have been doing business in Nigeria. But we moved to Nigeria seven years ago to establish a stronger presence. Gas is in huge demand. Our business focus is on dieselgas and biogas generators, and integrated green energy solutions. We are a professional energy solution provider. We have installed an independent power project (IPP) with almost 40 megawatts of gas capacity in Benin, Nigeria,” Mr. Shu said.
He also revealed that the company has set up a factory in Lagos equipped with spare parts and technical support to serve customers across the country. The factory plays a critical role in the company’s effort to localise production, create jobs, and enhance after-sales service.
Deputy General Manager of Tide Power Nigeria, Mr. Michael Luo, highlighted the quality and durability of the company’s power products. He said many Nigerians continue to use the company’s generators, some of which have been in operation since the company’s early days in Nigeria. “Since we started manufacturing here, we have been offering our services to Nigerians. Many still use our high-power products from seven years ago because of their high quality. These are products everybody now uses, including in Nigeria, which promotes clean energy,” Mr. Luo said.
Tide Power was originally established in Hong Kong and has grown to become a key global player in the power solutions industry. The company specialises in dieselgas generators and integrated green energy systems. In addition to Nigeria, Tide Power operates four production bases located in the United Kingdom, China, Saudi Arabia, and its Lagos facility, reflecting its international footprint and strong manufacturing capacity.
With Nigeria facing persistent power supply challenges, unreliable national grid services, and rising energy costs, Tide Power’s seminar came at a crucial time. Many industry stakeholders at the seminar commended the company’s efforts in providing flexible, fuel-efficient, and cleaner energy options that support Nigeria’s transition toward sustainable power generation.
Industry experts at the event also discussed the role of private sector-led energy investments in closing Nigeria’s electricity gap and achieving long-term energy security. The adoption of gas, biogas, and hybrid power systems was highlighted as a practical pathway to reducing carbon emissions and enhancing reliability, especially for industries and off-grid communities.
As Nigeria continues to push for industrial growth and energy diversification, Tide Power says it is committed to expanding its footprint and product offerings. The company plans to introduce new lines of energy-efficient systems and expand its maintenance and training programs for local engineers and technicians.
According to Mr. Shu, Tide Power is not just selling products but providing full-service energy solutions, including installation, support, and long-term system management. The company’s Lagos factory is part of this holistic approach, aimed at improving energy access and boosting local content in the sector.
