Al-Menfi Bans Unapproved Use of Mitiga Airport Presidential Lounge

The President of Libya’s Presidential Council, Mohamed al-Menfi, has ordered an immediate suspension of any unofficial use of the presidential lounge at Mitiga International Airport in Tripoli. The directive applies to all parties — official or otherwise — and mandates prior approval through the Council’s Protocol Department before the lounge can be accessed.

Al-Menfi’s instructions were contained in a letter sent to the Head of the Deterrence Apparatus for Combating Terrorism and Organized Crime. He made it clear that the lounge is a sovereign space meant strictly for official purposes and must not be used without direct authorization from the President or formal clearance from the protocol office.

The directive warned that any unauthorized access or misuse of the presidential lounge will be treated as a violation of administrative and procedural laws. It further highlighted the importance of proper coordination in all future events involving the reception of guests at the facility.
