Capitec South Africa banking app, USSD, and internet banking have been offline since early on Thursday morning. The Bank says it is still working on returning its banking services online after the outage which has lasted more than 24 hours.
“Capitec Bank is still experiencing an infrastructure problem in the central servers that support our banking channels. We realise this is a terrible experience for our clients and apologise for the inconvenience,” said the bank in a short statement.

The bank’s customers have taken to social media to air their frustration.
However, the bank says it is “absolutely committed” to resolving the problem. Card payments and ATMs remain unaffected by the outage.
