Ekiti Assembly Speaker Pledges Support for Agribusiness, Visits Agbeyewa Farms

The Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Adeoye Aribasoye, has restated the commitment of the Assembly to advancing agribusiness in the state, describing agriculture as the foundation for economic growth and job creation.

Aribasoye made the statement on Wednesday during a legislative visit to Agbeyewa Farms in Ipao Ekiti, Ikole Local Government Area. He praised the farm’s impact on food production, youth employment, and the local economy, stressing that it reflects Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s vision of making agriculture the bedrock of Ekiti’s development.

“We are impressed by the scale of investment here. Agbeyewa Farms is not only boosting food production but also creating jobs for our people and adding value to the economy. The House of Assembly will continue to support initiatives like this that place Ekiti on the map of agribusiness excellence,” Aribasoye said.

Earlier, the Managing Director of Agbeyewa Farms, Seyi Ayeleso, expressed gratitude to the lawmakers for what he described as a strong endorsement of private investment in agriculture. He said the farm, a subsidiary of Cavista Holdings, has invested heavily in cassava cultivation, processing, agro-trading, and community empowerment.

Ayeleso explained that Agbeyewa Farms remains committed to food security, youth employment, and economic transformation, adding that public-private partnerships are key to achieving sustainable development in Ekiti.

The lawmakers were also taken on a tour of the farm’s mechanised systems, ongoing projects, and upcoming modern processing facilities at its Ipao and Gede/Iyemero operations.

Aribasoye assured that the Assembly would continue to create policies that encourage agribusiness growth and support ventures that generate jobs and improve the living standards of Ekiti residents.
