Eterna Industries Limited, the authorised distributor of Castrol products in Nigeria, has intensified engagement with lubricant distributors across the country in a bid to accelerate business growth and curb the spread of adulterated lubricants.
At the 2025 National Distributor Conference held in Lagos, the company restated its commitment to providing high-quality engine oils, fluids, and greases while strengthening its distribution network. Castrol, which has operated globally for over 125 years, was celebrated for its heritage of protecting engines and industries with reliable products.
Speaking at the event, the Managing Director of Eterna Industries Limited, Mrs. Bunmi Agagu-Adu, highlighted the company’s long-term partnership with Castrol and the economic impact of the collaboration on Nigeria.
According to her, “The long-term partnership with Castrol started around 1991. For the auto business, we started in 2017 when we began blending Castrol GTX in Nigeria. The collaboration has been ongoing for over 30 years, and it gets better. Castrol GTX 20W-50 is very adaptable to most cars in Nigeria.
“The fact that we are manufacturing a world-class lubricant in Nigeria means we are contributing to industrial growth directly. We are also creating jobs locally and ensuring that the entire supply chain of lubricant distribution adds value to the Nigerian economy.”
Agagu-Adu stressed the need to curb product adulteration in the market, urging distributors and vehicle owners to purchase Castrol lubricants only from authorised channels. She noted that genuine products are available at about 83 Eterna Plc retail stations nationwide and through licensed sub-distributors.
“Buying through the right source is important for maintaining the productivity of vehicles. It is the only way to guarantee the right product and protect engines,” she said.
The Castrol team also assured participants that more products would be introduced to the Nigerian market, with emphasis on quality and high technology. Agagu-Adu added that Castrol’s global heritage and continuous innovation have kept the brand relevant for over a century.
She explained, “We are introducing more products to serve our customers, and more of our products will be blended in Nigeria. This will boost the economy and ensure we remain competitive. Our heritage is very strong; we leverage high technology for quality products. The high-tech trends and innovations we deploy keep us going and updated in the market for 125 years and more to come.”
In a forward-looking move, Eterna and Castrol announced plans to introduce CASTROL ON, the company’s advanced line of e-fluids for electric vehicles, into the Nigerian market. The innovation is designed to support the country’s evolving mobility sector and provide high-performance solutions tailored to the emerging EV segment.
According to the company, “By bringing CASTROL ON to Nigeria, Castrol and Eterna aim to position the country’s automotive sector for future-ready energy solutions while reinforcing their shared goal of accelerating sustainable growth.”
During the conference, distributors praised the initiative and called for wider penetration of Castrol products in the Nigerian market. One of the distributors, who spoke at the event, commended both companies for providing a platform to enlighten partners about product quality and usage, which he said would be passed on to end-users.
“The product is a good one, and I expect that they push their products more in the market. They need to hit the market for people to know and enjoy their quality products,” the distributor said.
With the dual focus on expanding distribution and tackling product adulteration, Eterna and Castrol believe they can strengthen their foothold in Nigeria’s competitive lubricant industry while preparing for a cleaner, technology-driven future.
