ICT Business Forum to Connect Mauritian and Zambian Firms for New Tech Partnerships

As Lusaka prepares to host the Mauritius–Zambia ICT Business Forum on 23 March 2026, both countries appear poised to deepen their commitment to a shared digital future—one anchored on innovation, investment, and regional cooperation.

Jointly convened by the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and the Economic Development Board Mauritius (EDB), the forum forms part of the wider Mauritius Africa Export of ICT Services Roadshow. It is expected to gather government representatives, industry leaders and technology firms from both nations for high-level talks on strengthening digital ecosystems and expanding cross-border partnerships.

Mauritius’ Minister of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation, Dr. Avinash Ramtohul, will outline his country’s regional ICT strategy, while Zambia’s Minister of Science and Technology, Felix Mutati, will officiate proceedings and lead bilateral engagements aimed at reinforcing government-to-government collaboration.

A delegation of 11 Mauritian private-sector companies will accompany the EDB, with more than 70 Zambian enterprises already lined up for business-to-business meetings. Officials say the sessions will serve as a catalyst for investment, skills exchange and the development of digital solutions tailored to African markets.

ZDA Director General, Albert Halwampa, described the timing of the engagement as strategic, noting that Zambia is accelerating reforms to position itself as a compelling destination for technology-driven investment. He expressed confidence that the forum would yield partnerships capable of boosting innovation, job creation and local enterprise competitiveness.

Representatives from key Zambian ministries—including Commerce, Trade and Industry, as well as Finance and National Planning—are expected to participate. Mauritius will also showcase its capabilities in fintech, cybersecurity and broader digital transformation.

Beyond the meetings and exhibitions, the forum reflects a broader ambition: the desire of Mauritius and Zambia to wield technology as a lever for inclusive, sustainable economic growth across the continent.
