The sixth edition of the Lagos Young Entrepreneur Awards is set to take place this September in Lagos. The award aims to celebrate young people who are making a big difference in their businesses and helping to grow the state’s economy. The announcement was made in a statement on Monday by the organisers, A List Events and Entertainment Company.
The Awards, popularly called Layeawards, will appreciate hard-working young people who are contributing to making Lagos the fifth largest economy in Africa. The event is meant to motivate the next generation of business leaders and show the important role that young people can play in developing their communities.
The award ceremony will come with many exciting segments, including mentoring sessions, lectures, pageantry, the launch of a special magazine, entertainment by top Nigerian musicians and comedians, and the award presentations across different categories.
The Chief Executive Officer and Creative Director of Layeawards, Oluwanisola Ashifat, explained in the statement that the award has become a well-known platform for recognising creativity and hard work in young people. “Layeawards has grown over the years into a strong platform that highlights innovations by young people and makes sure both individuals and businesses get more visibility. He stated that the awards will collaborate with government agencies, non-governmental organisations, companies, and rich people who want to sponsor or support the event. “We aim to work with stakeholders who care about education, enterprise, employment and youth development. Through this collaboration, we will empower more young people to pursue their goals and create opportunities for future generations.”

Ashifat called on the public to put forward the names of young entrepreneurs under the age of 50 who have made a huge mark in their industries. “If you know a young person who is hard-working, forward-thinking, and making a change in their community, we want you to nominate them for the award. He added that the closing date for submission of nominees is 15th of July. The award ceremony will follow in September, although the exact date will be made public later.
