by Radarr Africa

MultiChoice Nigeria has announced the appointment of Kemi Omotosho as its new Chief Executive Officer, following the retirement of long-serving CEO, John Ugbe.

The company disclosed in a statement on Monday that Omotosho’s appointment will take effect from January 2026.

Ugbe is stepping down after nearly 15 years at the helm of the pay-TV firm, a period during which he steered the company through significant industry shifts and changing market conditions.

Omotosho brings over 20 years of experience spanning media, telecommunications and digital services across Nigeria and sub-Saharan Africa. She has held several senior leadership roles within the MultiChoice Group, including Executive Head of Customer Value Management in Nigeria and Group Executive Head of Customer Value Management for the Rest of Africa.

Until her appointment, she served as Regional Director for Southern Africa, where she oversaw operations across seven countries.

Speaking on her appointment, Omotosho described Nigeria as a critical market for the Group, expressing optimism about the future.

“It is a privilege to be entrusted with the leadership of MultiChoice Nigeria at this important moment. Nigeria remains one of the Group’s most strategic and dynamic markets,” she said.

“I look forward to working with our teams and partners to deepen our relationship with consumers, champion local storytelling and the creative economy, and build a future-ready organisation that delivers sustainable value.”

The company noted that Ugbe’s retirement and Omotosho’s appointment followed a structured succession and transition process designed to ensure business continuity and operational stability.
