Nigeria imported 5.32 billion litres of Petrol in Q1 2020

The recent data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) shows the volume of petroleum imported into the country in the first three months of the year.

According to the NBS report, the volume of petrol imported rose by 9.24 per cent compared to the same period in the year 2019. Nigeria imported 5.32 billion litres of petrol in the first quarter of 2020 up from 4.87 billion litres in the first quarter of 2019.

The breakdown of the report shows that aside from Petrol, a total of 1.66 billion litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) that is diesel, 258.27 billion litres of Aviation fuel (AV), and 28.33 million litres of Low Pour Fuel Oil (LPFO) were imported in the first quarter

  • 1.66 Billion litres of Diesel was imported
  • 258.27 million Litres of Aviation Fuel were imported
  • 28.33 million litres of Low Pour Fuel Oil was imported
  • 135.14 million litres of Liquefied Petroleum Gas were imported into the country in the first quarter

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the breakdown below shows the volume of Fuel distributed.

  • 5.36 billion litres of petrol were distributed
  • 1.56 billion litres of Diesel were distributed
  • 8.7 million litres of household kerosene(HHK) were distributed
  • 283.90 billion litres of Aviation fuel was distributed
  • 23.36 billion litres of Low Pour Fuel Oil( LPFO) were distributed
  • 292.4 billion litres of LPG were also distributed

Finally, the review so far shows the total number of Fuel distributed nationwide during the period of the review.
