Ondo Hotel Disappearance: Missing Vice Principal’s Wife Hospitalised With Broken Ankle

by Radarr Africa

The family of Mr. Olaloye Olatunde, the vice principal of Ipele Community High School, Owo, has been hit by another setback as his wife reportedly sustained a broken ankle amid the ongoing search for the missing educator.

Family sources confirmed on Tuesday that Mrs. Adenike Olaloye fell at her residence after what relatives described as days of extreme emotional and psychological distress. She is currently receiving medical attention.

According to the family, the incident is linked to the intense anxiety and strain she has endured since her husband’s disappearance.

“She has been deeply traumatised since her husband went missing,” a family member said. “The constant stress, sleeplessness and worry may have contributed to the accident.”

Mr. Olatunde travelled from Owo on Sunday, August 24, 2025, to Akure to participate in a Child Labour Programme organised by Trace Project Akure. The week-long training was held at Sunview Hotel, Alagbaka, where he was accommodated alongside 57 other participants.

Concern grew on Friday, August 29, when Olatunde’s mobile phone was switched off and all attempts to reach him proved unsuccessful. He has not been seen or heard from since.

Days later, his clothes, shoes and other personal belongings were reportedly found in his hotel room, a development that further deepened concerns about his safety and raised questions over the handling of the situation by the hotel and programme organisers.

The family has also raised concerns over what they described as irregularities in the hotel’s CCTV footage, claiming that the video shown to them was unclear and did not visibly capture Olatunde. The hotel management has since dismissed any wrongdoing and maintained that all available footage has been handed over to security agencies.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Police Command has confirmed that investigations into the matter are ongoing.

With Mrs. Olaloye now hospitalised and Mr. Olatunde’s whereabouts still unknown, the family says its appeal for help has become more urgent.

“We are pleading with anyone who has useful information to come forward,” a relative said. “Sunview Hotel and the organisers of the programme must also do everything possible to assist in finding him.”

The disappearance has continued to spark public concern across Ondo State, with growing pressure on the hotel and the non-governmental organisations behind the programme to provide clearer answers as investigations continue.
