The Chief Executive Officer of SysServe Solutions Limited, Mr. Jerry Okogbue, has said that Nigeria’s logistics and transport sector is losing billions of naira every year due to delivery delays, theft, and lack of journey visibility. He made this known during a media parley held recently in Lagos, where the company called for a modern approach to haulage management.
According to Okogbue, the continuous losses experienced by transporters, manufacturers, and cargo owners in Nigeria stem from outdated methods of monitoring vehicle movement and managing goods in transit. He said many of these losses can be avoided with better control systems and digital tools that allow for real-time visibility of haulage operations.
“In Nigeria alone, the logistics and transport sector loses billions annually due to delivery delays, fraud, theft in transit, and vehicle downtime. All these issues are tied to poor visibility and lack of structured journey control systems,” Mr. Okogbue stated.
He further stressed that the logistics industry must move away from traditional methods such as phone calls and WhatsApp messages to track drivers and goods. Instead, companies must begin to invest in smart digital tools that offer accurate and automatic tracking.
Also speaking at the event, the company’s Chief Operating Officer, Mr. Johnson Owoeye, shared his experience working with transporters and cargo owners for over seven years. He said despite many firms spending heavily on ERP systems and vehicle trackers, they still struggle with inefficiencies in their haulage operations.
“Even with all the investment in ERP and tracking systems, many companies still can’t answer simple but important questions such as: when did the vehicle leave, when did it arrive, was there any delay, and were there any losses in transit?” Owoeye said.
He explained that many transport teams still rely on outdated methods like calling drivers or sending WhatsApp messages to check on delivery status or to confirm proof of delivery, which often leads to delays in billing, confusion in reporting, and missed opportunities for improvement.
SysServe Solutions said it developed Instanta Haulage, an AI-powered journey management platform, to solve these problems. According to the company’s Chief Technical Officer, Mr. Kazeem Balogun, Instanta Haulage was designed to provide transporters and logistics managers with real-time data without depending on manual inputs from drivers.
“This is why we built Instanta Haulage,” Mr. Balogun explained. “It is a journey management and monitoring system that uses artificial intelligence and geofencing technology to automatically track important trip milestones—such as loading and offloading times, departure and arrival, turnaround delays, lost goods in transit, and even minute-by-minute journey updates—all without requiring the driver to press a button.”
Ms. Adeola Atoki, the company’s Sales Lead, added that the technology is already being used in key industries like oil and gas, FMCG, and third-party logistics. She said it gives logistics managers full control over operations by offering real-time trip visibility and performance metrics that traditional tracking systems cannot deliver.
“Instanta Haulage helps eliminate manual tracking delays and guesswork in haulage operations,” she said. “It improves turnaround time, monitors goods in transit, reduces losses, and ensures full visibility over every trip, without relying on phone calls or WhatsApp updates.”
Supporting this view, the company’s Marketing Lead, Ms. Rukayat Ajibade, said manual tracking processes weaken trust in operational reports and cause stress for logistics managers.
She said, “Manual processes are stressful, disjointed, and full of errors. They waste valuable time and leave blind spots that make it hard to make smart decisions. That’s why Instanta Haulage was developed—for transporters and cargo owners to get real-time visibility and control from trip planning to delivery, billing, and reporting.”
She further explained that the system helps managers understand everything happening on the road in real time and automatically keeps track of loading and offloading times, delays, and losses in transit.
Nigeria’s logistics sector continues to face several challenges, including insecurity, high cost of diesel, poor road networks, and lack of real-time journey monitoring. Experts believe that adopting intelligent tracking and management systems like Instanta Haulage can help reduce operational losses and boost trust in the haulage business.
