Schneider Electric Launches Affordable GoPact Range for Small Businesses in West Africa

by Radarr Africa

Schneider Electric has introduced a new line of affordable electrical products in West Africa, designed to help small businesses and households manage high energy costs while ensuring safety and reliability.

The French multinational announced on Tuesday that the new GoPact range includes a moulded case circuit breaker (MCCB) and a manual transfer switch (MTS), now available across the region. The products are targeted at small shops, cluster housing, non-critical commercial buildings, and retail outlets where cost and reliability matter more than advanced or premium features.

Opeyemi Olaniyan, Offer Manager, Power Products at Schneider Electric West Africa, explained that the GoPact series was created to address the growing demand for affordable but dependable electrical solutions in the region. He noted that low-cost electrical products from India and China have been gaining ground in West Africa, forcing companies like Schneider Electric to provide competitive solutions for everyday users.

“GoPact is crucial to the West African market because of the value it brings to our distribution channel and their customers. It is an affordable offering, which helps us compete with low-cost brands that have entered the marketplace quite aggressively,” Olaniyan said.

He added that while Schneider Electric’s premium products are often reserved for large projects and critical infrastructure, the GoPact line is designed for less complex uses such as residential blocks, small businesses, and non-type-tested enclosures.

“Schneider Electric’s GoPact products can be used for loose component fittings in less critical applications. It fits well in more affordable panels, making it easier to sell in markets where budgets are limited,” Olaniyan explained.

The GoPact moulded case circuit breaker is built to handle common electrical issues like short circuits and overloads. It comes with an adjustable safety unit and an extra protection mechanism that helps reduce fault current, making it safer for daily use. The MCCB supports power ratings of up to 800 amps and breaking capacities of up to 70 kiloamperes. It also comes in fixed, adjustable, and electronic options, offering flexibility depending on the needs of small businesses and households.

In line with Schneider Electric’s global sustainability agenda, the MCCB is packaged in fully recycled cartons and comes with QR codes instead of printed manuals, helping reduce paper use.

The GoPact manual transfer switch is another major part of the new product range. Designed to support power ratings between 63 and 2000 amps, the switch is compact, easy to install, and comes with pre-fitted components for faster and safer setup. Schneider Electric stated that the product meets international safety standards and is especially useful in areas prone to power cuts, where businesses rely on backup power sources.

Olaniyan emphasised that the GoPact products combine affordability with Schneider’s global quality standards, ensuring that customers do not have to sacrifice safety and performance while managing costs. He noted that small businesses, which make up a large percentage of West Africa’s economy, stand to benefit the most from the range.

“With the GoPact portfolio, we are able to deliver affordable yet dependable solutions for small businesses and everyday power needs, while strengthening our competitive position in West Africa’s fast-growing electrical market,” the company said in its statement.

Industry experts believe the launch is timely, as many businesses in West Africa struggle with rising energy costs, frequent power outages, and the need for reliable electrical protection systems. The GoPact range offers a middle ground between low-cost generic brands and high-end premium equipment, making it attractive to traders, landlords, and small business owners across Nigeria, Ghana, and other countries in the region.

The company added that the GoPact range was developed using robust design and optimised manufacturing processes, making it durable for local conditions. Schneider Electric expects the rollout to boost its presence in the regional market while offering customers safer and more affordable power management options.
