Sundry Foods Limited (SFL), a Nigerian-owned food services company, has awarded scholarships worth ₦250,000 annually to undergraduate students from its host communities across the country.

The announcement was made during the presentation ceremony held at the company’s corporate headquarters in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. SFL’s Executive Director, Mr. Nnamdi Opara, revealed that the scholarship is part of the company’s education support programme under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) scheme.

According to him, the initiative is targeted at supporting brilliant students who are indigenes of communities affected by the company’s business operations, and it aims to help them pursue their education without financial stress.

“This award was instituted by the company as part of SFL’s education intervention initiative for indigenous students of host communities impacted by its businesses,” Opara stated.

Each selected beneficiary will receive ₦250,000 per academic session for four years to support their tuition, books, and other academic needs.

Mr. Opara emphasised that education remains a key tool for youth empowerment and national development. He noted that SFL’s commitment to giving back to its host communities is one of the core values of the organisation.

“Education is the passport to an outstanding future for the youths of our country,” he said. “That is why our organisation seeks to reward and support exceptional undergraduate students, especially the indigenous from among our host communities, who have demonstrated academic excellence and good character in their chosen course of study.”

He added that the scholarship scheme is now an annual programme and will continue to play a major role in the educational growth of students from SFL’s host communities.

While encouraging the beneficiaries to remain focused, Opara urged them to always aim for excellence and stay disciplined in their academic journey.

“Continue to work hard at your studies, strive to achieve excellence in all that you do, and never stop giving your best,” he advised.

The beneficiaries, visibly excited, expressed gratitude to the company for the financial support and pledged to remain committed to their education.

One of the recipients, Joy Nwosu, a 200-level student of Economics at the University of Port Harcourt, thanked SFL for easing the burden on her parents and promised not to take the opportunity for granted.

Another beneficiary, Abdulrahman Lawal from Kaduna State, said the scholarship will help him concentrate better on his studies without worrying about school fees.

SFL has continued to position itself as not only a key player in the food industry but also a company with a strong community impact. Through various CSR programmes such as this scholarship scheme, the company is fostering development and investing in the future of young Nigerians.
