Dr. Edouard Ngirente, the Prime Minister of Rwanda, recently took the stage at the Africa CEO Forum on May 16, 2024, to shed light on Rwanda’s strategic initiatives to attract investment and foster economic growth.

In his address, Prime Minister Ngirente emphasized the pivotal role of the private sector in driving Rwanda’s development agenda. He highlighted the country’s robust macroeconomic stability, positioning Rwanda as an attractive destination for both local and foreign investors seeking sustainable opportunities in Africa.Building upon Rwanda’s commitment to transparency and good governance, Prime Minister Ngirente underscored the government’s unwavering efforts in combating corruption and implementing institutional reforms. These measures have not only bolstered investor confidence but have also solidified Rwanda’s reputation as a business-friendly environment conducive to growth and innovation.Furthermore, Prime Minister Ngirente outlined the government’s proactive stance on infrastructure development, citing significant investments in road networks and nationwide internet coverage. He also stressed the importance of expanding access to electricity, particularly in rural areas, to support the burgeoning manufacturing sector. Highlighting the establishment of dedicated industrial zones, Prime Minister Ngirente reaffirmed Rwanda’s commitment to creating an enabling environment for industrialization and economic diversification.In addressing concerns around debt sustainability and fiscal management, Prime Minister Ngirente underscored the importance of accurate data assessment for international evaluations. He emphasized the need for African countries to prioritize data accuracy to effectively gauge debt capacity and mitigate financial risks.Turning his attention to regional integration, Prime Minister Ngirente reaffirmed Rwanda’s unwavering support for the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He highlighted Rwanda’s proactive measures in streamlining business operations by eliminating entry barriers, such as visa requirements, to facilitate intra-African trade and investment flows.In concluding his remarks, Prime Minister Ngirente articulated Rwanda’s forward-looking vision, centred on human capital development as a catalyst for sustainable economic growth. By prioritizing investments in education, healthcare, and skills training, Rwanda aims to empower its citizens, enhance purchasing power, and create a prosperous future for all Rwandans.
