The Electronic Media Content Owners Association of Nigeria (EMCOAN) has announced that artificial intelligence training will be part of this year’s Nigeria Electronic Media Content Exhibitions and Awards (NEMCEA). The training aims to help members use AI tools to save time and improve content creation.
Speaking at a press briefing in Lagos on Tuesday, the President of EMCOAN, Mr. Adeniji Omirin, said the 2025 edition of the event will hold on September 16 and 17 with the theme, “Sustainable Content Creation in a Fragmented Media Landscape.”
According to him, the lead facilitator will be Mr. John Orakwe, an award-winning AI strategist known as one of the top global educators in artificial intelligence. Orakwe has trained thousands of business leaders across different countries. Omirin explained that his participation will guide Nigerian content creators on both opportunities and ethical issues in AI adoption.
“This is a bold step forward. It shows our belief that Nigeria’s creative and electronic content industry must not be left behind in the global digital transformation. By equipping our professionals, students, and upcoming creators with these skills, we position Nigeria not just as a consumer of technology but also as a producer of innovation that can compete globally,” Omirin stated.
The Project Director of NEMCEA 2025 and General Secretary of EMCOAN, Mr. Stephen Alayande, added that the conference will address how to create and monetise quality content in an era where audiences are scattered across many platforms. He said there will be panel sessions on audience engagement, cross-sector collaboration, technology-driven storytelling, and content monetisation.
Alayande also announced that a special director-general roundtable will be introduced at the event. The session will bring together heads of regulatory agencies, broadcasters, advertisers, exhibitors, content owners, and other stakeholders to discuss policies and initiatives that can support growth and innovation in the industry.
“This exclusive session aims to bridge the gap between creators and regulators, paving the way for a more streamlined and profitable media ecosystem,” he noted.
The organisers further explained that the annual NEMCEA awards will celebrate individuals and organisations who have demonstrated excellence, innovation, and creativity in Nigeria’s electronic media content industry.
This year marks the fourth edition of the exhibition and awards ceremony, which has become one of the key gatherings for players in the Nigerian creative and broadcast space.
