by Radarr Africa

Energia Limited, one of Nigeria’s leading independent energy companies, has launched a new graduate trainee programme aimed at helping young Nigerian professionals start strong careers in the energy industry. The company announced the initiative on Monday, explaining that the programme is designed to give young graduates practical experience, mentorship opportunities, and exposure to the full oil and gas value chain.

According to the statement, the Energia Graduate Trainee Programme will allow selected graduates to work across different operational and business units. The trainees will gain hands-on experience in both field and office environments, giving them a balanced understanding of how the company operates and how major activities in the Nigerian oil and gas sector are carried out. The company said the programme is part of its effort to raise the next generation of skilled workers who can contribute to the country’s energy future.

Speaking at the launch, the Chief Operating Officer of Energia Limited, Mr Oladimeji Bashorun, said the programme reflects the company’s strong belief in the potential of young Nigerians. He noted that the energy sector is changing quickly, and Nigeria must prepare young people to take up leadership roles in the coming years. He added that Energia remains committed to offering opportunities that help fresh graduates grow their confidence and build relevant technical and professional skills.

“At Energia, we recognise that the future of our industry lies in the hands of today’s young professionals. This programme is our way of investing in Nigeria’s brightest minds, equipping them with practical skills, exposure, and the confidence to thrive in a fast-evolving energy landscape,” Mr Bashorun said.

The General Manager for Human Resources and Corporate Services, Mr Tope Daramola, also spoke about the importance of the initiative. He explained that the programme is not only about giving graduates work experience but also about preparing them to contribute meaningfully to the company and the wider Nigerian energy sector. He said the trainees will learn through mentorship, collaboration, and continuous development sessions that reflect the company’s culture of innovation and excellence.

“We are offering a launchpad for meaningful careers. Through mentorship, teamwork, and continuous learning, our trainees will develop the competence and values that define Energia’s culture of excellence and innovation,” Mr Daramola said.

The programme is open to Nigerian graduates with a minimum of a Second-Class Upper (2:1) degree in disciplines such as Engineering, Geosciences, Business, Finance, and other relevant fields. Applicants with a Second-Class Lower (2:2) degree may also apply if they hold a Master’s degree with distinction. Energia stated that interested applicants must have completed the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2023 or later. The company advised prospective applicants to visit its official website to view full details and submit their applications before the deadline of December 12, 2025.

Energia Limited described the trainee initiative as a key part of its broader vision to become Africa’s leading provider of reliable and sustainable energy. The company emphasised that its mission goes beyond business performance, noting that it is committed to excellence, integrity, human capital development, and community engagement. Energia also highlighted that a strong talent pipeline is essential for supporting innovation and long-term growth in Nigeria’s energy sector, especially as the global energy market continues to change.

In its statement, the company said it remains dedicated to responsible energy development and world-class operational safety. Energia added that it will continue to work closely with stakeholders and host communities to create positive impact while delivering sustainable value. With initiatives like the graduate trainee programme, the company hopes to support young Nigerians who are ready to contribute to the nation’s economic progress and energy future.
