Lagos Free Zone and CEVA form logistics joint venture

Lagos Free Zone and CEVA Logistics have signed a joint venture agreement to develop integrated logistics solutions in Nigeria and across West Africa.

The partnership, approved by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, will see CEVA Logistics take a majority stake in the new entity, combining its global network with Lagos Free Zone’s infrastructure.

Strategic hub connects global trade to West Africa

The joint venture will establish a warehouse facility within Lagos Free Zone, marking the first operation in the zone led by a global logistics provider. The site is located near the Lekki Deep Sea Port, positioning it as a key gateway for imports into the region.

The facility is designed to support multinational manufacturers and businesses seeking streamlined access to West African markets, including those within the Economic Community of West African States.

Integrated infrastructure supports trade efficiency

The collaboration aligns port access, industrial infrastructure and logistics services within a single location, aimed at reducing transit times and operational complexity.

Adesuwa Ladoja, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director at Lagos Free Zone: “This partnership with CEVA Logistics underscores our commitment to creating a one-stop solution for manufacturing and trade businesses in Nigeria. By integrating Lekki Port, reliable industrial infrastructure, and efficient logistics solutions, we are building a logistics hub for West Africa. Collaborating with CEVA, a global leader in logistics, strengthens our ability to deliver on this vision.”

The initiative also benefits from the Lagos Free Zone Green Channel, a customs-approved corridor that enables cargo to move between the port and the free zone within hours, reducing delays and associated costs.

Partnership targets regional supply chain growth

Jean-Baptiste Rambaud, Vice President, Air and Ocean Product at CEVA IMEA: “We are proud to partner with Lagos Free Zone in this strategic venture. Our targeted investments in Nigeria reflect our commitment to providing uninterrupted logistics services to our global clients exporting to West Africa, including ECOWAS. This free zone warehouse is the final piece in creating a seamless logistics journey for goods and products from around the world to West Africa.”

The joint venture is expected to support growing demand for efficient supply chains in West Africa, particularly in sectors such as fast-moving consumer goods, where speed and reliability are critical.

Focus on long-term logistics capability

By combining global logistics expertise with local infrastructure, the partnership aims to simplify trade flows and improve access to regional markets for international and local businesses.

The development positions Lagos Free Zone as a central logistics hub, supporting broader efforts to strengthen trade connectivity and industrial growth across West Africa.
