BioNTech, Google, and Deutsche Bahn are among the organizations that have invested in InstaDeep, an African-founded artificial intelligence company.

The company, which is now based in London, announced on Tuesday that it has raised $100 million in funding from investors, allowing it to expand into the United States. Each company’s actual investment amounts were not disclosed.

InstaDeep aims at improving electronics manufacturing, logistics, and biotechnology research by utilizing artificial intelligence.

Recently, the company announced a collaboration with BioNTech to develop an early warning system to evaluate coronavirus samples and forecast high-risk variants. The first widely available vaccination against COVID-19 was developed by BioNTech and its US partner Pfizer. The two companies said on Tuesday that they are developing a shot for the omicron version.

InstaDeep, which was founded in Tunis eight years ago, today has engineers and researchers in South Africa, Nigeria, Tunisia, France, the United Kingdom, and the United Arab Emirates.
