The Plateau State Police Command has recorded a significant breakthrough.

This followed the recovery of a General Purpose Machine Gun and an AK-47 rifle in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area by police force.

Mobile Policemen attached to the 81 Police Mobile Force (PMF) carried out the operation.
Consequently, based on credible intelligence about suspected bandits operating around Kafi Abu in Barkin Ladi, they acted.
In a statement issued by the command’s Police Relations Officer, SP Alfred Alabo, operation was carried out at 8:23 pm. Additionally, the operation occurred on Friday, August 28, 2026.
The police team, led by the Commander of 81 PMF Bassa, moved into the bush area. However, they confronted the suspected criminal elements.
However, the suspects reportedly fled into the surrounding forest after sighting the police operatives.
They left their weapons behind.
A subsequent search of the area recovered a GPMG with breech T1102-20CH00007, identified as SARSILMAZ SAR762 MT by police force. Additionally, the officers also recovered an AK-47 rifle with breech number 1968M117479.
The police command said the recovery was significant.

Following the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Plateau State Command, CP Ayodeji Faniyan, ordered the deployment of additional personnel. Additionally, additional personnel were deployed to the area.
The deployment supports ongoing efforts to locate the suspects who escaped into the forest.
