FXTM Academy, a company focused on financial markets education, recently organised a charity cycling event that attracted over 200 participants from different parts of Nigeria. Cyclists came from major cities such as Lagos, Port Harcourt, Ilorin, Ibadan, and Abeokuta to take part in the event, which was designed to promote fitness, community engagement, and social development.
In a statement released to journalists on Sunday, the organisers said the cycling competition featured six different race categories. These included Professional Male and Female, Junior Male and Female, and Veteran Male and Female categories. The event was held on a 2.8-kilometre closed-circuit track, where junior cyclists rode 10 laps, veterans completed 14 laps, and professional riders raced 20 laps to finish the contest.
Cash prizes were awarded to top performers across the categories. In the Professional category, winners were given N800,000 for first place, N500,000 for second, N300,000 for third, and N200,000 for fourth. Cyclists who finished between fifth and fifteenth place also got N50,000 each, ensuring broad recognition and reward for competitive efforts.
For the Junior Male and Female categories, the first-place winners received N200,000, second place got N100,000, and third place received N50,000. In the Veteran category, the first, second, and third positions earned N500,000, N300,000, and N200,000 respectively.
The event was well-attended, and according to the statement, many participants and spectators praised the organisers for using sports as a means to support health, fitness, and community development. They also noted that the race created a positive atmosphere that encouraged healthy competition and togetherness among the various age groups and gender divisions.
Kelechi Ehibudu, FXTM Academy’s Country Representative, explained that the cycling race was not just a sporting event, but a project aimed at promoting key values such as perseverance, discipline, endurance, and the spirit of continuous self-improvement. He said FXTM Academy remains committed to supporting community activities that bring people together while also promoting a culture of resilience and wellness.
According to Ehibudu, the charity race aligns with the company’s broader goal of creating meaningful social impact beyond financial education. He noted that while FXTM Academy focuses on teaching people how to understand and navigate financial markets, it also believes in the power of sports and other communal events to foster national unity and personal growth.
The race was part of a growing effort by corporate bodies in Nigeria to use sports as a tool for both social change and corporate social responsibility. With over 200 participants from various states and a well-structured reward system, the event demonstrated how local initiatives can unite people across regions and backgrounds under a common purpose.
FXTM Academy has hinted that more community-driven events are in the pipeline as part of its long-term commitment to social development through education, fitness, and empowerment.
