Guinness Nigeria Plc has bounced back to profitability, posting a net profit of N16.2 billion for the financial year ended 2025. This marks a sharp turnaround from the previous year’s loss of N54.7 billion, and comes as the iconic brewer celebrates 75 years of operations in Nigeria.
In a statement released by the company, Guinness Nigeria reported strong revenue growth of 65.8%, rising to N496.6 billion, compared to N299.5 billion recorded in 2024. Gross profit also surged by 62.2% to reach N148.3 billion, while operating profit grew by 86.6% to N47.4 billion, signalling a significant improvement in core business performance.
Chairman of Guinness Nigeria Plc, Professor Fabian Ajogwu, attributed the impressive performance to a combination of “focused execution of strategic priorities, disciplined cost management, and the resilience of our people and brand portfolio.”
“This strong turnaround speaks to the quality of leadership, clarity of vision, and strength of governance at Guinness Nigeria. As we mark 75 years of doing business in Nigeria, this performance underscores our long-standing resilience and commitment to value creation,” Ajogwu stated.
The company’s Managing Director, Girish Sharma, said the achievement reflected a renewed sense of focus and agility within the organisation.
“We have set a clear ambition—to be one of the best-performing, most trusted, and most respected consumer products companies in Nigeria. That ambition is driving us to build a high-performance organisation with an entrepreneurial spirit,” Sharma said.
He added that while Nigeria’s operating environment remains “dynamic and challenging,” the company is optimistic and determined to maintain its growth trajectory.
Guinness Nigeria’s resurgence comes despite persistent macroeconomic headwinds such as inflation, foreign exchange volatility, and intense competition in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector. The company’s successful cost optimisation measures and strong brand loyalty played crucial roles in the rebound.
As part of its 75th-anniversary celebrations, the company also honoured its long-serving staff and trade partners, reinforcing its reputation as one of Nigeria’s most enduring and trusted brands.
Guinness Nigeria, a subsidiary of global beverage giant Diageo Plc, produces and markets popular beverages such as Guinness Stout, Orijin, Malta Guinness, and Smirnoff Ice. Its long-standing presence in Nigeria has made it a household name, with deep roots in local communities.
The company says it remains committed to enriching lives and building a legacy of brewing excellence and social impact in Nigeria.
