Kehinde Muibi: Billion-Naira Real Estate Mogul

by Maryjane Chiedozi

Kehinde Muibi, also widely known as Dr. MKH, is a truly great example of how someone can rise from very humble beginnings to become a top Nigerian entrepreneur. His journey from earning just ₦150 a day as a bricklayer to founding and leading the MKH Group, a collection of businesses now worth over ₦10 billion, is a clear display of what ambition, hard work, and smart planning can achieve in Nigeria’s fast-moving business world. Here, we take a fresh look at his amazing journey and the latest news about his growing businesses.

From Tough Starts to a Love for Learning:

Kehinde Muibi was born into a situation that required a lot of strength and determination. Early on, he understood the need to help his family, especially after his father sadly passed away. Working as a bricklayer was tough, and the small daily wage (some remember it as ₦150, others ₦200) barely covered the basics. But this experience taught him the real value of hard work and sparked a strong desire for a better future.

Mr. Muibi knew that education was the main way to achieve the future he dreamed of. Even though money was tight, he didn’t give up on his studies. He showed a remarkable dedication to improving himself, first earning a National Diploma in Mathematics and Statistics, which gave him a good base for thinking things through. After that, he got a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and then a Master of Science degree in Project Management. These qualifications gave him the knowledge he needed to handle the complex business world. Later on, his major contributions to real estate earned him an honorary Doctorate in Estate Management and Property Development from the European-American University in the Republic of Panama. To further sharpen his business skills, Dr. Muibi also took courses at well-known schools like the London Business School and is a graduate of the Entrepreneurial Management Program at EDC, Lagos Business School.

Getting Experience: Banking and the Real Estate Bug:

Mr. Muibi’s first step into the formal corporate world was in April 2012 at Skye Bank (which is now Polaris Bank). He spent nearly four years there working in operations. This job taught him a lot about how financial systems work, how to deal with customers, and how big companies are run. It certainly sharpened his organizational skills and gave him a vital understanding of how to manage money – skills that would be very important later when he started his own businesses.

However, the growing real estate scene in Nigeria soon caught his attention. In December 2016, Mr. Muibi made a smart career move and joined Christal Homes as Head of Operations. His talent and hard work quickly shone through, and by March 2018, he was promoted to Executive Director. In this key role, he was heavily involved in shaping the company’s plans and strategies, helping it to grow significantly. This period gave him direct, practical experience in the real estate market, from developing projects to selling and marketing them.

Starting an Empire: The Birth of MKH Group and What’s Next:

With a strong drive to start his own business and a clear idea of wanting to build something that would last, Kehinde Muibi began his own venture in 2018. He started Destiny Crest Building Engineering Limited, a company focused on delivering quality construction work. This was the first step in building what would become the MKH Group.

By 2020, his goals had grown even bigger, leading him to set up MKH Investment Limited. Smartly seeing the chance for his different businesses to help each other grow, he brought them all together under one main company: MKH Group. Today, MKH Group is strong proof of how well he’s spread out his business interests. It includes a varied range of companies:

  • MKH Properties Ltd: This is their main company, and it focuses on building and selling properties, from homes to business complexes. The company is known for fresh designs and using building methods that are good for the environment.
    • What’s New: A big recent news item (announced in May 2025) is MKH Properties teaming up with the Oyo State Government to build a new, modern shopping mall in Agodi, Ibadan. This specially designed mall, planned to be finished by August 2026, will have over 700 shops. It aims to bring new life to the area’s business scene, especially after a fire damaged the well-known Agodi Market. Dr. Muibi said the project is meant to “bring lasting value to the community and give business owners, executives, and investors a retail experience that’s ready for the future.”
    • MKH Properties is also building the “MKH Shopping Mall” in a busy, central part of Ibadan. This mall offers shops that people can buy with flexible payment options and is expected to give a good return on investment.
    • Other housing projects they are working on or have planned include “Aafin” in Ibeju-Lekki, “De Apartment” in Alasia, Ajah (near Lagos Business School), “The Garnet” in Epe, and “The Haven Extension” in Ibadan.
    • A very interesting project is “The Green Residence.” This is a large, eco-friendly estate on 200 hectares of land on the Moniya-Iseyin Road in Ibadan. It’s expected to be the biggest eco-friendly community there and will run entirely on green energy. It will also have cool features like a small zoo, a mini-farm, and a golf course.
    • In October 2024, MKH Properties hit an important milestone when DataPro, a respected Nigerian credit rating agency, gave it a Long-Term Triple B (BBB) rating and a Short-Term A2 rating. These ratings show the company has “fair financial strength, good performance, and a solid business profile,” and that it has a “good ability to pay its financial commitments on time.”
    • The company also announced it’s working with famous voice-over actress Stephanie Anene on a new project, showing their creative approach to marketing.
    • Their efforts to give back to the community (CSR) are in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), focusing on strong infrastructure and environmentally friendly communities.
  • MKH Supermarket: Moving into the shopping sector, MKH Supermarket wants to offer quality products and services to meet the increasing needs of consumers. While the new MKH Shopping Mall in Agodi, Ibadan (being built by its sister company MKH Properties) will have many shops, there haven’t been specific recent public announcements about new standalone MKH Supermarket branches or a dedicated online shopping site. However, the group’s interest in providing retail facilities is clear.
  • MKH Construction Engineering Ltd: Building on what Destiny Crest started, this part of the group handles major construction projects, using Mr. Muibi’s early experience in the field. The building of large projects like the Agodi shopping mall, The Green Residence, and other housing estates naturally involves MKH Construction Engineering Ltd. The MKH Group itself says it’s committed to “turning real assets into developments that make money – specializing in the whole life of a real estate project.”
  • MKH Production: This branch shows the group’s move into creative and manufacturing areas. The MKH Group’s website says its business interests include “motion pictures,” and Dr. Muibi is known to invest in the film industry through MKH Production. More details about specific films or if they are also making things like building materials are kept private.
  • MKH Media: Having MKH Media shows that the group understands how important communication, branding, advertising, and creating content are in today’s business world. While they might not always publicize specific campaigns, the group actively manages its image and promotes its projects, as seen with their press releases and media updates for their real estate work.

Under Kehinde Muibi’s smart leadership, the MKH Group has seen huge growth, with its total value now over ₦10 billion. This impressive growth comes from wise investments, a strong focus on quality, and a deep understanding of the Nigerian market. The group’s main strategy is about “creating different businesses to solve the common problems ‘everyday people’ face in Nigeria” and actively “helping to reduce the shortage of housing.”

More Than Just Business: Mentoring and Making a Difference:

While Kehinde Muibi’s success in business is impressive, he cares about more than just profits. He is very passionate about helping others succeed and has been very active in mentoring people. He’s made a big difference in this area, having reportedly mentored over 500 people in various fields, helping them on their own business journeys and career paths.

Also, Mr. Muibi has put a lot of effort into supporting the next generation of real estate professionals. He has successfully trained over 2,500 realtors, teaching them what they need to know and the right way to do things to succeed in the industry. His work in helping over 1,000 people become real estate investors, both in Nigeria and abroad, has also played a big part in making the sector more active and successful. His mentoring often focuses on financial education and finding smart investment opportunities.

Ongoing Praise and Awards:

Kehinde Muibi’s important contributions have regularly earned him awards and praise. His skill in business and his efforts to help others have been recognized with many honors. His high standing in the Nigerian business community is shown by awards like:

  • A Fellowship from the Chartered Institute of Management and Leadership, Kentucky, USA (August 2021)
  • The Nelson Mandela Leadership Award of Excellence and Integrity
  • A National Leadership Award from the National Association of Polytechnic Students
  • The Icon of Humanity Award from the Council of Nigeria Youth Coalition
  • Humanitarian Person of the Year by the National Association of Nigerian Students (2021)

  • Listed among the “60 leading real estate CEOs of 2022 in Nigeria” by The Guardian newspaper.
  • He also serves as the Chairman for the Oyo State chapter of the Real Estate Developers Association Of Nigeria (REDAN).

The strong credit ratings given to MKH Properties by DataPro in late 2024 also confirm the group’s solid position and excellent management under his leadership.

Looking to the Future:

Kehinde Muibi’s journey from a bricklayer earning very little to leading a multi-billion naira group of companies is a very inspiring story. It shows what’s possible with never giving up, always learning, and sticking to your goals. The MKH Group’s continued growth in different areas highlights his strategic leadership and his skill in finding and using good opportunities in the Nigerian economy.

As Nigeria’s lively business scene keeps changing, Kehinde Muibi and the MKH Group are clearly set to become even more important. His strong commitment to quality, new ideas, and helping others makes him a key player in the country’s economic progress. Dr. MKH’s story isn’t just about his own success; it’s a source of hope and a real inspiration for new entrepreneurs in Nigeria and elsewhere. It clearly shows that where you start in life doesn’t have to limit how far you can go.
