Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has inaugurated the new TY Logistics Park FZE, a Grade-A contract logistics facility covering about 29,000 square metres, describing it as the first development of its kind in West Africa. The commissioning ceremony took place on Monday inside the Alaro Free Zone, located within the Lekki corridor, further strengthening Lagos State’s growing reputation as a major industrial and logistics hub in Africa.
The newly launched facility is strategically located a short distance from the Lekki Deep Sea Port and just minutes away from the proposed international airport in the Lekki area. The logistics park was built to international standards and is designed to handle large-scale warehousing and distribution operations. According to information shared at the event, the facility has capacity for more than 45,000 pallet positions, making it one of the largest and most advanced logistics infrastructures in the region.
Speaking at the event, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said the project represents a major milestone in Lagos State’s long-term plan to create a modern industrial and logistics ecosystem that can compete globally. He said the state government is committed to making Lagos a preferred destination for local and foreign investors through infrastructure development, policy support and private sector collaboration.
“We are officially launching the TY Logistics Park FZE in Alaro City, a project that will shape the future of logistics in Lagos and strengthen our position as Nigeria’s leading industrial hub,” Sanwo-Olu said. He noted that the facility would help improve supply chains, reduce turnaround time for businesses and create more job opportunities for residents of the state.
The governor also praised the promoters of the project, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (retd.) and Senator Daisy Danjuma, for their role in bringing the logistics park to life through TY Holdings. He described their investment as an example of responsible corporate leadership and long-term confidence in Lagos State’s economic future.
“I commend General T.Y. Danjuma (Rtd.) and Senator Daisy Danjuma for their vision. Through TY Holdings, they continue to show what responsible investment and confidence in Lagos truly look like,” the governor added.
Industry stakeholders present at the ceremony said the TY Logistics Park would support the fast-growing e-commerce sector, manufacturing companies, fast-moving consumer goods distributors and international traders who rely on efficient storage and distribution services. They noted that the facility would help to reduce congestion at older industrial estates and improve the overall ease of doing business in Lagos.
The Alaro Free Zone, where the facility is located, is a master-planned industrial city developed to attract multinational companies, boost exports and position Nigeria as a regional manufacturing and logistics powerhouse. With the presence of the Lekki Deep Sea Port and upcoming airport, experts believe the area will soon become one of the most important trade and logistics corridors in West Africa.
Government officials at the event said the project aligns with Lagos State’s broader development agenda, which focuses on transportation infrastructure, industrial expansion, job creation and economic diversification. They explained that modern logistics facilities like the TY Logistics Park are critical to supporting food security, pharmaceutical distribution, retail growth and export-driven manufacturing.
The launch of the logistics park is also expected to ease pressure on Apapa and other traditional port and warehouse areas, which have long struggled with traffic congestion and infrastructure overload. By decentralising logistics operations and bringing them closer to major transport assets, the state hopes to improve efficiency across the entire supply chain.
Residents and business owners in the Lekki and Epe axis welcomed the development, saying it will open new opportunities for employment, training and small business growth. Many believe the project will attract more international investments and strengthen Lagos State’s position as Nigeria’s commercial capital.
As Lagos continues to invest in ports, roads, rail and industrial zones, the TY Logistics Park FZE is seen as another step towards building a resilient and globally competitive logistics and manufacturing sector in Nigeria.
