Sephaku Cement boss Pieter Fourie lost the battle with stroke

Pieter Fourie, CEO of Sephaku Cement, has succumbed to the cold hands of stroke in the early hours of Wednesday.

The company, part of South Africa’s Dangote Cement, announced Wednesday that Foley died early in the morning.

“Sadly, the board announced the death of Fourie earlier this morning,” the board said in a notice to shareholders.

They described him as a leader who “dared to destroy the long-standing oligopoly of the cement industry.”

Fourie was the CEO of Dangote Cement SA and a non-executive director of SepFold.

“We have lost an individual with vast institutional insights and memories of the cement industry,” said Brent Williams, Chairman of the Board of Directors of SepHold.

Fourie survives with his wife, three children, and five grandchildren.

The company previously appointed Operations Executive Duan Classen to act as CEO in the absence of Fourie.
